I am so glad Tom's wedding thread is still going strong...
Gave a bit of thought to the "Friendly Strangers" thing this weekend. There are people that I ride the train with on an almost daily basis and after riding with them for a few years I seem to know a whole lot about them. I have, however, as JB pointed out earlier, never thought to invite them to dinner or anything like that...
I wanted to say that I should you be in the DFW area, traveling through, visiting, or even if you live around here...let's get together for a drink, we can share Bad Byrne stories, and debate great unused story pitches....just a thought.

Mine just dropped by my office with my dad, on their way back up to
Memphis, and she gave me a pack of trail mix.
This is a particular "mom-ism" that my mom shares, except she mails me boxes full of things, crap I don't need. We got Christmas-themed dishtowels about a week ago, a rolling pin and corn-holders (you know, those little plastic jabbers shaped like corn cobs that you stick in the end of your cooked corn?). The last one had dog biscuits, paint brushes that were made from sponge, plus a laminated newspaper article about my mom's water-aerobics class.
Worse is when she sends me stuff I made as a kid -- artwork, scrapbooks, toys and crap that I've told her a million times to throw away!
It's a sad testament to pack-rat-ism....

Congrats Moyer. You mother is exceptional!...Mine enjoys our parties with our Gay Friends, but after a while, she doesn't want to be obstrusive and leaves early.

Tom- My mom does the same thing re: sending weird things! But more to
my sister than me. I am lucky if I get a birthday card on time!

One of many things I miss about my mom...She loved when I took her to the Gay Bars...She especially loved the Drag shows...the humor, the talent, the sheer fabulousness. I would take her to gay bar and the next week she would take me to an Irish pub for a jig and a Black and Tan...
