I like the leaner Superman depictions as well. Superman's strength is SUPER and it shouldn't be shown as simple earthly muscle.

Thinking it out logically, When his superpowers kicked in...his Physique should stay at about that point...what exactly does Superman do for a work out to build more muscles. I always though a lean but muscular build...not pumped made the most sense.

Tom is definitely an inspiration - I'm hitting the gym tomorrow!
Tom, is it better to work out more in the morning or later in the day? I want to develop a schedule and stick to it and get the most out of the exercising.

Jeremiah -- it depends on your goal. If you're looking to lose weight, I would suggest doing your cardio in the morning, preferably before you eat. Otherwise, just find a time when your personal energy is high. I prefer to lift around 11am, but because of work, I usually don't get to the gym till around 4pm.
Just be consistent about going -- it needs to become part of your routine, so however long it takes you to make it that way.
Most importantly, remember, it doesn't happen overnight! It takes a long time to make changes to your body. Stick to the basics and ask questions if you don't know. Good luck -- lemme know what I can do to help!

Much appreciated, Tom, thanks!
I'm looking to drop weight, primarily. With the snacking and ordering out lately I let myself go a bit too much (yay work-related stress!). Thanks for the tip. I figure I'll do cardio in the morning (at least a half hour) and try to do some weights when I get home from work around 6 or 7pm.

Here are some cell-phone shots from the gym today (strictly illegal of course!) I was doing shoulders/traps, so they're pumped.

And my favorite (gonna use it as my new avatar):

As is true of about 75% of my shirts, it was given to me. Can't tell you how many times my friends have said, "I'm getting rid of some t-shirts. Want 'em?" Of course, that means I have about five thousand tees and muscle shirts stored in the guest room.

Now, what's a DOUNT, Brian? ;) [and thus the cheeky bugger strikes again]
And each time I see those really buff shots of Tom, I just can't help thinking about that picture of the scrawny kid, which is supposedly Tom before his gamma ray accident. ;)
