Sigh. Tom hates my cute, bottom-boy self.
No hate, Marc -- not at all. But curious -- tell me why you don't use your real name on FB? Or have pics?

Tom,
The rules here in JBF require real names. On Facebook, you can create whatever fun/goofy/etc. name you want. As a rule, I don't like using my real full name on the internet; I get paranoid. I also suffer from OCD... so that doesn't help.
Also, I don't actually use Facebook much --- meaning I don't have a page all created full of photos, stuff about me, etc., I am just registered so I can visit all my friends pages.

The one blessing of having a generic name like mine is that I'm less paranoid about using it online, since there are hundreds (maybe thousands) of people with the same name.

My best friend in high school is named Mark Roberts, so everytime I see your posts, Michael, I always take a moment and see HIS name there!
Tom French, while being a simple name is fairly unique. Though I'm sorry to say there are several other published writers aside from myself on Amazon with my name -- one writes books about FLOWERS!!!

I grew up one of the only two Hagermans in town - the other being my brother. My mother had been widowed and remarried, transplanting the family from Kentucky to Illinois. It was a weird sort of disconnect.
Then I move to Fort Wayne where there's a large construction business bearing my last name. No relation whatsoever. Weird feeling again.

"French" is an Irish name, believe it or not, and I'd never met many where I grew up in Upstate NY. There are bunches and bunches down here in the DC metro area -- and I found a ton over the summer when I was in the UK.
Most of the time, when telling people my name, I say, "French... like the language, or the kissing." Still, can't tell you how many times people spell it F-R-A-N-C-E.

I have tried and tried and tried to get people to understand my last name is spelled "H, A, German". It's useless. I gotta walk 'em through letter by letter...
