Wow... Is good to know that I'm one of Marc's people!

-I know I can't get married... but I belong!-

Hope everything goes well for your sister, Tom.

Jodi, I live five doors down from my parents because at the time me and Danielle were looking for an apartment one of the few apartment buildings in town happened to be just down the street from them. It hasn't really increased how much we see them because even before we moved we would go over every week and play games. Though lately that's been curtailed by Danielle working every second weekend.

Nice holiday, I’d say. Great news indeed.
And I won’t be telling your mom either... mum’s the word! :)

My best to your sister though.

Do you or your sister live near your parents?

Not at all -- by more my parent's choice than ours.  I grew up in Upstate New York.  When I went to college in '82, my parents moved to Maryland where my dad started a business with my uncle.  After my sister graduated high school in '89 and went to college, my parents moved to NC, where they live now, retired.

My folks LOVE the small towns ("real America") -- interesting that all three of their kids live in the city.  My sister lives about 2miles away from me.

Don't parents usually FUME when they find out their kids eloped??

Yeah... except my sister has an ace -- my parents eloped, too.  Now, my parents came back and had a "formal" wedding... "for the family," but my sister is not interested in that sort of concession.  She was stressed about the whole idea of having some big to-do, which is why they avoided marrying for so long.

I think my wedding inspired her.  We kept it simple, we made it about us and we showed love and humor.  Some little extravagence (we are GAY after all), but nothing like one of those big, fat, Greek weddings, you know?

Maybe more people should have simple, gay weddings -- where it's about celebrating the ABILITY to marry our spouse as much as anything, so we hurry to get in front of the judge and get it done with barely enough time to get our tuxes on...

"Maybe more people should have simple, gay weddings"...

Getting dangerously close to bringing this thread back around full-circle
there, Tom.

Nah, Al. Full circle implies that it'd end (or at least spin on in a regular pattern).  This thread ain't finished yet...  Now, it may be a spiralling effect we're feeling... but no circles.

Yet the tuxes came off quick enough...I'm sure.

Observation:  When my wife bakes...I get incredibly turned on for her.   The smell of the oven, the little smudge of flour one cheek, her hair pulled back, except for that one dangling strand...I can't stand it...I have to move in closer.

I seem to have the same effect on her when I am playing with the kids.

Question:  Do you have seemingly innocent moments that seem to jumpstart the libido?

Don

  • Waking up in the morning
  • Breathing
  • Having a bowl of cereal
  • Watching Elizabeth Banks bathtub scene in 40 Year Old Virgin
  • Reading a post by Al Cook
  • Good BBQ

And now I'm getting turned on for her...

And playing with the kids, eh? I'll have to keep that one in mind.

What? Oh. Right. Never mind.
