Ohh! You're THAT Tom French. . .

Love you, man.  Inspired by another thread, I googled myself this morning -- waited until page 7 before I found something about ME!  (Hell, even my own book didn't appear until page 10!)

Many of the OTHER Tom French's had done much more... "important" work than me.

Tom my wife is stunned by things I am willing to share with people I have "never met".

Somehow she can't wrap her head around the fact that I have been a member of the forums for a while and these are my friends.  We share the same views on many things..and disagree on many as well, but have a shared passion for comics and the art of JB in particular...I have hard time explaining why it is so easy to share with you guys...go figure.

You know, Don, I usually pride myself on being able to articulate my thoughts, but haven't yet figured out why I enjoy chatting on this Forum as much as I do.  Perhaps it's BECAUSE I've spent so many years not meeting like-minded people.  My friend Scott is my only "comic book" friend -- that I've "met" (in Eric's words).  He opened me up to the Marvel Universe and I turned him on to DC.  It's worked out well for both of us.

Still, that's just one guy....

Part of the "sharing" process comes, I think, from the "on stage" aspect of the internet. The fifteen minutes of fame.

We've all seen examples of the false sense of empowerment some folk get from what is, after all, nothing more than a rudimentary ability to type and hit ENTER. We've also seen examples of people who think everything they have to say is somehow important -- because, you know, they can type and hit ENTER!

When a "community" like this arises and grows, a more benign form of this manifests. A regular posted can come into the Forum and know that, yes, by golly, there actually are people -- "strangers" in a technical sense -- who will be interested in what they have to say. And that when something important -- like getting married -- happens, it is worth announcing. Not on any sort of Let The Whole World Know kind of board, if such a thing exists, but in the more "intimate" environment of what we have here.

Juan -- just have to figure out what you mean by "things."  If you mean "OUR things" then I have to second John's "ewwwwwwwww!"

I share nothing unless I wrap that rascal!

Wait, wait... I'm married now.  My days of "thing sharing" are probably over...

JB, you are right about the sense of community this forum seems to foster.  So many people are willing to share their happiness and tragedies with otherwise complete strangers.  It's been a lot of fun.  Thanks!
