QUOTE:
| ...but you can't pick your family! |

Doesn't stop some from trying.
Take my mother-in-law, for example. Refuses to set foot in our house again. Why? Because a few months ago, my wife hosted a "girls only" poker night. My mother-in-law was invited. I made myself scarce, but got home before anyone left. By the time the game was breaking up, my m-i-l wasn't just three sheets to the wind, she was about 30 sheets to the wind. Loud...obnoxious...and had been making major drama out of tiny little things that happened. There was the possibility that, rather than getting a ride home with someone able to drive, she might stay on our couch. Well...she apparently overheard me tell my wife that, if her mother came to the next "girls' night," that I'd join our son in staying at my mom's that night, because I didn't feel like dealing with her like that. (Later learned that she was even more obnoxious and intrusive at the neice's house that she stayed at that night...and can't seem to understand why I just don't want to be around that.)

Tom, felt like I got a cold shower, reading that Betty was unwell. So glad that things worked out well. Although it’s a steep bill indeed, I guess one cannot really put a price on that... and I’m betting the vets charging those bills know that too. Anyway, relieved to hear that your family unit is well again.
And here’s hoping for a speedy recovery for Sebastian as well, Juan.
Todd, I'm guessing you're just weird like that. ;)

You can pick your friends, and you can pick your nose...

Thanks for your kind thoughts and wishes for Sebastian. He's better now. And this past days we have had cold weather here in Mexico. At nights, when my partner and i are in bed, watching TV, Sebastian gets in the bed too, and Danka, the Kitty too. Two men, a Dog and a Cat...all in the bed, keeping warm!

Sounds sweet Juan Jose! I wish I could let Cole in bed with me, but he sheds
a pound of fur daily. It would be too much to maintain. I put him on my bed
once and regretted it. I had to wash my bedspread immediately. My old dog
Daisy always slept on my bed with me... but she hardly shed.

Well, you could (especially a strong guy like yourself), but the question is whether the person would still call you a friend afterwards. ;)

Excellent point, Wha-keem. Also worth considering is the fact that you
might be able to pick your friend's nose if you've picked a very unusual
friend...

Another excellent point, Al. And also, there's the linger question of what you might find doing said activity and how that'd effect the friendship... Starting to resurface from the illness that's kept me subdued the last few of days, I can tell you that I don't think a person sticking their fingers up my snout would be happily surprised. Traumatised possibly. So I guess the element of surprise wouldn't have been altogether lost. Only the happy part.
And given what I've just been writing, I'm inclined to perhaps go check if I'm still running a fever.

For the record, $945 bucks was the cost of finding out how much my dog meant to me.
Tom -
No price is too much for the pets we love. Glad Betty is doing better !

Thankfully, my friends don't pick my nose or search for lint in my navel. They do however, offer constructive criticism (a form of "picking on me") which is healthy !
