Tom -

Thankfully no bad moments with either my dad or my in-laws for Thanksgiving.  We'll see about Christmas, though !  A lot of my in-laws (bros/sis) smoke, and candidly, it's really hard for me to breathe in that environment.  Last year I didn't go to the in-laws for Christmas.  This year, my wife is nicely encouraging me to go.  The company's great, but the smoke just kills me !

Addendum: The summer time get togethers are great because we're all outdoors and the smoke is quickly dissipated through the summer breeze.  But in the winter, with a house full of bros/sis, nieces/nephews, my throat just swells up !  Maybe I'll go with a red and green gas mask this year !  LOL !

Never had that... but I’d be willing to try it. :)

Sweet Potatoes are the same as Yams, right?  I like the yams themselves, never tried it in a pie though... but as with the pumpkin bread, I’d be willing to try it.

I feel inclined to use that old saying about women... you can’t live with them, you can’t live without them.  Seems to apply just as well to the notion of family. :)

Not sure if we've got it over here, but I’ll definitely look into that for future use. Thanks Dan.

Oh, and I posted this over at the Rush thread, but figured quite a few of the members in here might enjoy it as well. :)

Okay gang... (FROM FACEBOOK)

A DAY WITHOUT A GAY:

Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at 12:00am

ow much are your rights worth? Are they worth fighting for, even in this
troubled economy?

If so, join us for a nationwide strike and economic boycott on December
10th, 2008, International Human Rights Day, to support marriage
equality.

Help raise awareness that marriage is a RIGHT for ALL Americans,
including LGBT Americans, who have jobs, own businesses, pay taxes and
contribute over $700 billion to the American economy.

Here's what you do.

STRIKE! Call in gay. (That just means close your business, call in sick, or
take the day off)

BOYCOTT! Don't buy anything, spend money or support the economy.

PARTICIPATE! Give back, fight back or help roll back marriage
discrimination. Go to www.daywithoutagay.org to volunteer, petition or
protest.

While I certainly am supportive of equal marriage rights for all Americans, I think these types of boycotts do more harm than good.

The people most affected by boycotts generally are low-level workers and small business owners - the types of people who really don't have much say in making the rules to begin with. Boycotts tend to foster negative feelings toward the people doing the boycotting, which isn't what gay marriage proponents want or need.

Bruce... agree... somewhat...

But I will work that day regardless. My boss is a republican, but very open
minded, so he supports whatever I do. He's a great guy, and I'm his right
hand man, I wouldn't leave him in a bind, ESPECIALLY on a Wednesday,
which can be hellish here...

I'm going crazy.  My good dog Betty is at the Animal Hospital right now.  We suspect Eric's 4-year-old nephew fed her a wine cork at Thanksgiving.  She had diarrhea, which we didn't think much of, but yesterday, she started to refuse to eat. This morning she was really punky, so we took her to the vet.  We're sitting here now waiting for the X-rays and blood work to come back.

I'm going crazy with worry.  I can only imagine having a REAL kid!

Oh Tom....I hope that the doggy gets well.

And tell me about it...last week we noticed our doggy, Sebastian scratched a lot, and we thought that maybe he had fleas, so we took him to the vet, only to find out that it was caused by an ear infection. Now we gotta apply medication on his ears. My poor old Sebastian!
