My partner attended the "American benevolence's Thanksgiving lunch". They charged $20 USD for meal. He told me that the food was bad and that a lot of old people attended, most he did not know, and got bored. I couldn't go with him, because in Mexico is not a holiday and had to go to work.

But then at night, he dragged me to Marie Callender's Restaurant. God, the food and the pies are to die for, and the had a Thanksgiving Special Menu. After all, we had a thanksgiving dinner.

Just seems weird... is it popular? I really don't like Marie Callendars... it falls
into a "Olive Garden" category for me, which means it's okay...but I definitely
wouldn't pick it for dinner if I didn't have to.

I've never been to a Marie Callendar's restaurant - I don't think they have those here in the Southeast. I have had some of her frozen foods from the grocery store, though. They're okay, but nothing to write home about.

I had a great Thanksgiving. My Aunt always hosts the annual family get-together - we had 30+ people this year. She lives in the country and it was a beautiful Autumn day, so we got to eat outside and enjoy the weather.

That night, my parents agreed to babysit so that my wife & I could go see "Four Christmases." It's a cute holiday movie and we enjoyed getting out.

No Moyer, it's not popular here. It falls on the "luxury restaurant" category here. I agree with you, it's not a restaurant to have a romantic dinner, but we were there because it was one of the very few places that had a "Thanksgiving Special Dinner".  My partner and i have been in better restaurants, with a better special mood.

I sometimes wish I had dual American/Canadian citizenship so I could celebrate it twice per year!

I'd have to do twice as much dieting ! LOL !

How was everyone else's turkey-day or non-turkey-days?

Non-traditional !  Did not eat Turkey.  I think we had soup for lunch and cold-cut sandwiches for dinner !  Watched a little of the RUSH Snakes & Arrows DVD on my pc.  Hung out with my wonderful wife.  Played soccer with my cat !  Posted on the JBF. Took a nap !  Thought about the 10 things I am thankful for in order to prep for Sunday's message at church.  It was a very nice Thanksgiving holiday !

Well, being a non-turkey-person in a dual sense*, I'll nevertheless dutifully respond by stating that I've been out cold with a cold the last couple of days and it's still going strong (which is getting rather old and older by the minute).

Joakim -

I don't know if you have it over in Sweden, but next time you start to come down with a cold, immediately try some of the Zicam products.  They are zinc based and reduce the time of a person's cold if administered in the first hours of the onset of symptoms.  When I take Zicam, instead of having a cold for 10+ days, it only lasts for 2 or 3 !
