Your description of the "evolution" of musical theater is pretty interesting Tom.  Ever thought of making that a book?  The history and evolution of musical theater?  I imagine it would be fascinating reading.

Yeah I like them too!

Edited to add:

I love the theater but really never get to go because of work and family responsibilities (shit we rarely go to the movies).  Thats said with our proximity to NYC -- we've been debating when to introduce our four year old to the wonders of Broadway.  She loves music and dancing.  To Tom's chagrin her favorite movie is The Sound of Music -- but she is also an accolyte to the church of Disney princesses.  So we've been debating whether to take her to see The Little Mermaid on Broadway.  I don't mind dropping $400+ for us to go (Me, Kelly, Kaitlin and probably my mom and cousin) but I do mind if we leave after 30 minutes.  Or have my kid ruin someone else's theater going experience!

Both!  I like all kinds of people. And I like musicals.  So, yes to both!

I guess musicals are kind of like comic books - you either get them or you don't. Personally, I don't get 'em; they don't work for me.

But that's just my personal preference. Plenty of people love musicals, including my wife's best friend. The three of us went to see "Spamalot" a couple of years back and they had a great time.

I do like live theater a great deal, but give me a good drama or a non-musical comedy. I recently saw Tennessee Williams' "Night of the Iquana" performed and enjoyed it tremendously.

Well, with such a fine dual reference who can complain. :)
Joakim JJ3 The Mad Swede The Mighty Wha-keem Bartlett Jahlmar...

...and that's not even using any of the multitudes I had growing up or my full given name (my actual "first" name, which is rarely used except on very formal papers, remains unincluded).
