David, do you ever look at the "What's in your sketchbook?" thread? The level of talent here on the JBF amazes me. I just wish I had some of it!

Meanwhile, my mom's family has ridiculously low cholesterol, despite eating a steady diet of high-fat (but incredibly tasty) Southern cooking.
Does your mom think Paula Dean uses too little butter? :o)

Yeah, probably!
I consider Paula to be a patron saint. One of these days, I want to make a pilgrimage to her restaurant in Savannah.

I adore Paula. She reminds me a of a lady from Atlanta who worked with my dad when I was growing up. "Miss Kitty" made us the best southern fired chicken, and her pies were to die for. She made homemade confections -- an almond covered fudge candy I still can taste!

While I probably should (waiting for the girlfriend to come home with pizza), I fear my resolve ain't in it... But I hope those of you who make the leap do so successfully.

I've posted some sketches in it once or twice.

With all the discussion about being out of shape, I thought this story was topical:

I tell my boss he's got "moobs".
He doesn't like when I say that.

I don't know if I have any advice to dish... I just try to workout 3-4 days a
week! But I don't have kids, and my job allows for me to get out usually
after 8 hours (rare overtime). Plus I know I am fortunate to not have to
deal with a brutal winter, which makes going to the gym really tough.
Our family is real stocky, and not lean built, so I HAVE to make myself go.
I really enjoy eating, and eating badly on the weekends. I definetely can't
dispense nutrition advice, but I do try to eat all throughout the day.
Protein bars in between breakfast, lunch and dinner, and drink water in
between sodas and coffee.
I've been teaching a couple of spin classes a week now too, on top of
taking boot camp styled classes, so when the weekend comes my body
goes into mass consumption mode.
