beck and call...heh heh heh.

I am in brochure hell here... three big brochure jobs, all due ASAP... I
wonder if people truly understand what it is a poor, underpaid, somewhat
talented graphic designer has to go through! Arghghgh!

Must.... console... pain.... with.... donut!!!

My boss has suddenly realized that I have talents beyond the paltry demands of mu current job and is in the prcess of grooming me for something a little more demanding...(Grants Management).  I have spent the last week helping to prepare and submit my first grant application...got a few attaboys out of it.  I then created an entirely new Orginizational chart for our department.  Our department chair has a meeting with the new university president and needed something new to show him.  I am very proud of it after about 32 revisions it is lovely....

The original version only had the first seven colours which I chose to use as a stealth rainbow in protest to Prop"hate"...no one noticed and i have managed to keep it in place through all the permutations.

HA!

Tom, I remember one comment card I got from a teacher very specifically; in it he said (and I am paraphrasing but not changing the intent) that I was going to be a failure in life because if I felt I knew something I saw no need to learn more. He made that comment because I refused to participate in the dance section of gym class. Part of my reason (a tiny part) was that I was already a fairly decent dancer and showed him that but the main reason was I was hugely shy, I had recently gone through my growth spurt and stunk to high heaven when I sweat and couldn't talk to girls without stuttering. Asking me to earn grades by going up to every girl in class and asking them to dance, while knowing that I would be rejected every time just seemed cruel. In fact I believe that was the whole point; he was a jock and liked to see the geeks humiliated (this was the same gym teacher who assigned teams based on worst to first. Worst players on one team, best players on another) and I refused to play his game. I can be quite stubborn and when I make up my mind it is nearly impossible to make me change it, especially if you apply force or coercion. So after a couple of months of beating his head against this stone wall I could see his frustration coming out, but I still won't forgive the implication if I didn't do what he told me to do I would end up a failure in life. Just not something any child should be told.

Those comment cards must be incredibly frustrating to write; you want to write some things that you know you shouldn't but you need to find a way to convince the parents that their child needs help. I don't envy you at all. Good luck!

Don, the chart looks great. Being an accountant, I have to look at figures and charts all day. I find it VERY helpful for my poor eyes if someone uses colour to break things up. Otherwise, they go square shaped lol

Welcome back Juan.
