I go to LA every year for my birthday - driving there is no problem except that the freeways can be mistaken for parking lots a lot of the time.  Hopefully you'll be there on vacation and won't have any appointments to get to.

Here's my tip about LA in general - it's like a huge (wonderful!) kingdom full of different lands.  Under the umbrella of "LA" you have dozens and dozens of very different places - all types!   Up here in Nor Cal LA is poo-pooed as being, you know, superficial or vapid, but I just don't find that to be true - or if I do?  I drive 10 minutes in any direction and I end up in another part of LA that isn't that way.

Does that make sense?

Warm it up for me, Jodi - I'll be down there in December.

I switched to Macs about three years ago.  I'll never buy a PC again.  The Mac just suits me better.

Has anyone drove in LA? I would love some tips.

-----------

I did this past summer when I went to San Diego for my nieces graduation. I
took a day trip with my partner to LA (see the pics on my facebook) and it
was HORRENDOUS. Of course that's my one rare time actually having to go
through the legendary traffic you always year about. It was about 20 miles
of gridlock... no other tips than what Michael said... be aggressive. If you see
an opening to get over, just do it, damn the blinker. Or do what I do: get
into the lane you want to get over to AND put your blinker on as an
afterthought.

Yeah... big Mac head here too Jodi. Just make the jump... what is it
specifically about the PC you keep jumping back to? A certain program? A
certain interface? There is usually a good substitute, or equally good.

Give yourself a month to get used to it... after that you're good.

Professionally I have worked with virtually every computer brand and
operating system out there - Commodore, DOS, Windows, Solaris, Novell,
Unix, Linux, NT, XP, Vista, Mac OS 6, 7, 8, 9 and now X, and Macs are the
only computer system I will ever spend my own money on.

Though I think it's safe to say neither of us is entirely PC... ;)

Oh, and really surprised that you haven't commented on my current status update on FB (from Monday), Al. Thought that would gain a small reaction at least...

Yesterday, i met Mexico's top baroque flautist. His name is Horacio Franco, and he gave a concert organized by my partner. It was a nice evening. And when he found out that my partner and i were a couple, he relaxed a lot, because he's gay too. So, if you have the chance, in the future, to hear him, do it!. You won't regret it!

And...the poster is mine!
