Thanks, Tom, you just had my brain connect sumos and sex... which is just downright frightening. Hetero/homo distinctions totally disregardless!

Al, I agree with you wholeheartedly...Tom you as well...(infact I imagine you as being a big burly, wrestle you and yet very considerate lover as well...
Modern American culture seems unable to understand that sexuality is a vast spectrum...That just as there are big burly straight men (sometime I think they protest too much...) there are straight men that are fancy pants effemenate as well.
what a much more splendind picture we could weave in our American tapestry if allowed the use of all our threads...especially our big fat gay drifting thread.
Cheers, Don

Wow Whakeem...
I am blessed with no less than three quotes in one post I have made the Big time!
Glad to see you understood my original post and I thank you for the opportunity restate and reclarify none the less. I do so enjoy talking...and making my point more lucid is always a good thing to do.

Well, in all honesty, I think that's one issue where American culture certainly (unfortunately) isn't alone in falling behind thinking-wise. But let's keep raising our voices and maybe one day, yeah?
More Don: "Wow Whakeem...

So this one should have you reeling around drunk-like then I gather. ;)
Just remember one thing about that "Big" time, Don... While size certainly matters, it's all a matter of things fitting (kinda like clothing, you want to sit right, not be too large or too tight) not about things necessarily being big. Kind of a hobby horse of mine, and your post did offer me to open up on it, albeit in a far fetched, associative kind of way, but heck, I hit 'em as they come flying.*
* probably way in over my head with some of the sports metaphors I'm throwing around these days.
Even more Don: "Glad to see you understood my original post and I thank you for the opportunity restate and reclarify none the less. I do so enjoy talking...and making my point more lucid is always a good thing to do."
Yeah talking is fun... and typing is a good substitute. ;)

A thought to my friends in this thread:
Thinking of my grandfather today I recognized that there are certain things in the form of values or morals that I hold dear that come from him, from my grandmother, my parents, my friends, etc. In trying everyday to be a better person and thinking of ways to be a better person I often reflect on these values. Among the values is something my Dad imparted to me that I try to carry out but I am sure I fail at -- that a man is measured not by how he treats his equals or betters but by he he treats those over whom he has oversight or some form of control. Do I treat people who are not at my station in life as well as i do those at a higher station than I? I'd like to think so, and I try to keep it in mind, but do I do it? Its something I tend to ask myself all the time.
Now why, you may ask, am I articulating this here and now and what is the point? Well, I think one of the ways you grow as a person is finding out what others value and how they apply their values to their lives. What do you guys keep in mind during your interactions with others? How do you try to be a better person or make a better world? I am really fascinated to know.

Usually my thought process is
Don't be an ass, don't be an ass, don't be an ass, don't be an ass - D'oh!
You ass!

Geoff...Sounds like you were brought up right...
I try to communicate clearly and with reasoned responses..I try to let emotions rule my mouth...I often fail...but I keep trying...I also try to listen with an open mind...ready to learn.
Whakeem...as to size...you are correct...I have met some that would be frightened by me and others who would not be effected at all..

Or a masculine, rough-and-tumble man is assessed as not being gay.

I get the same reaction because I prefer Dylan over Madonna or Kylie.

The Golden Rule - Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Not original, I know, but I think the world would be a lot better off if more people practiced it.
