Steve - I totally get the demographics notion, but I couldn't help but wonder if there'd be something to this particular one.
And without discrediting the idea that there might be some people getting their rocks off vis-a-vis writing lesbian characters in comics, I think there is something deeper underlying that. After all a lesbian couple is much less threatening to the average male homophobe (leastways as long as they're not too butch, I would assume). One need only consider the role of "lesbians" in mainstream pornography. It seems to me that lesbian sex (or even female bisexual sex for that matter) is a commonplace trope in mainstream pornography that doesn't threaten male sexuality at all. If you'd find anything under the pornographic heading of "bisexual" would as far as I understand it have to include male bisexuality, and similarly, any threesomes in mainstream porn involving 2 guys and one gal, it seems, would be very careful not to have any intentional or even accidental man on man action happening. All in all, there are some weird notions moving around in how we are programmed to think in terms of sexuality, for certain.

Btw, here's a fine pic of the demonic incarnation of the Mighty Wha-keem.

And remember, there's no photoshopping done there, so beware the wrath of the Mighty one. ;)

Ok, just to show a more benign side of the Mighty one (just realised poor Jodi might get wicked nightmares), here's another pic. Incidentally, both are from Saturday night!

I have to disagree with you, David, on Brendan Fraser in that he is such a talented comedic actor that I feel it a shame when he isn't using that gift and making people laugh.

I agree that he is a good comedic actor Steve. My point is that he could choose good roles in general. Some of the stuff he picks to do is a bit too dodgy. Scrubs was a good move though.

Fraser might make a good Captain Marvel. He doesn't quite have the look -- but he could capture the "feel" of the character.

Damn ya'll been busy over the weekend!!! Finally had our first real "cool"
weekend down here. I was able to actually open up the house all
weekend, and let in the gentile cool breezes. Slept with my window
slightly open too, woke up cold! Love weather like this!
Re: Brendan Fraser... he's an awesome comedic actor. I may be in the
minority, but if you ever get the chance to watch Bedazzled, WATCH IT.
It's a great comedy. He's the perfect goofball. The scene where he plays a
freckly red head lovesick geek is priceless. Then when he plays the 7ft
basketball star with an smaller than life hoo-hah... f'n hilarious.
Plus much eye candy for the str8s with Liz Hurley. I love her too. I wish
she'd get more roles.

Geoff -- thanks for that article. Of course, I can't hang it in my classroom with that shirtless pic that dominates the front page....
I had a moment in Scotland where I had to take my shirt off in front of the kids. Didn't realize what a big deal that was till they pointed out my tat and my piercing. "Mr. French, I didn't know you had a..."
That was an interesting conversation.
