Or he saved a space plane and has to adopt a secret identity!
We come back to my love-affair with Lewis Lane (Lois' younger, hotter brother...)

Someone asked me once if Superman could be Gay, and I invoked Larry
Niven, and pointed out that Clark's attraction to humans at all would
have to be learned, what with him being an alien an' all!

However, the kid from Kansas who shows up in the big city after college
and then, a year or so later, has a completely different behavioral
demeanor... that's learned, baby.

I agree. But I also see the closeted teens in denial with the strict Catholic parents who still can't help but affect "feminine" behaviors.

the lisping, the loose wrists, etc -- are learned
My son has a friend that when he was about 6 came over to our house for a class party and I thought that he acted as you stated, at about 14 he came out. At 6 he could not have learned that behavior. It wasn't the over blown actions that he has now, but he still had some of the qualities you mentioned. So I always thought that those behaviors were something you were born with and not learned. He is a very feminine acting gay man. So I am confused about the "learned" issue.
On a more topic related question, Are both your sets of parents supportive of the marriage? And do you live near family?
My son is engaged and I am sad that they are talking about moving out of state for their jobs when they graduate, I would love when my son got married, he would live near by, at least in the same state.

I dunno, Michael. The question is, what are feminine behaviors? Sensitivity? Nurturing? Emotional reactions? I've never met a woman who lisps because they're a woman.

At 6 he could not have learned that behavior.
At 6, behavior is still imitative, Jodi. The child's behavior was being reinforced somehow. We are "born with" no behaviors. We're born with needs. Behaviors are learned. We learn that if we behave a certain way, it ends in a result. For example, we cry and we're fed. We throw a temper-tantrum and we get our way.

Fortunately, yes, both sets of parents are VERY supportive (and proud) of us. Now, Eric's parents are no longer together, but his mother and her new husband are both behind us. Eric's dad is... unelightened regarding gays, but loves Eric very much.
Neither of us live near our parents (mine are retired in NC; Eric's are in Southern VA), but we both have sisters who live in the DC-area.

I once saw a kid, about 2, adopted probably from Asia, he was with what looked like his grandfather in a changing groom (swimming hall), and he (grandfather) swung the sauna door open so it almost hit the kids face. And the kid (Asian) performed a karate-like defense move! How did he learn that? It has to be built-in.

I'm a German-Irish hybrid -- but I'm not much of a drinker; I don't like potatoes; and in no way feel I'm genetically superior to any other races.
What behaviors do you share with other Swedes, Lars?
