That's not to say I agree with the concept of the open relationship -- Eric and I are monogomous at this point, but have talked about including others in our play, just not playing seperately.  Still, some of the longest standing gay relationships I know have survived being "open." 

On the other hand, my friend Mike and his partner are in the process of seperating right now because -- although they had an agreement about playing outside the relationship -- Mike's partner wasn't honest about what he was doing behind Mike's back.  See, it's the distrust that caused the downfall, not the actual sex itself.
