The notion of a sliding scale of degrees seems quite sound to me, as opposed to just a very clear b/w, either or perspective... And the whole point with the scale is that it allows for the fact that some people will be very firmly placed on one end or the other of the spectrum as well. Life is full of shades of gray on most levels, so why would it be b/w in this particular corner, I can't help but wonder.

I'm putting that one down as supporting the scales notion... and obviously placing Tom more on the happy side of the spectrum as it were. ;)
Tom also wrote (concerning another thread): "'Fuss' being the exact right word!"
Ok, I'll take you word for that and stay in the nice corner. Don't have time for "fussy" aggravation.

That's what they all say... ;)
(still trying to come to terms with the fact that Moyer looks nothing like a Halloween pumpkin head)
More Moyer: "Oh and 81 pages!!! 100 is close! Can we keep it up that long?"
I was just thinking we should keep it going till the anniversary. pfah! 100 pages, what's a measly 100 pages. This thread should be infinite! ;)
Al wrote: "And hopefully everyone knows I chose the phrase 'tongue firmly in cheek' because, well, what thread is this, anyway?"
Well a good thing you said it... I mean I was beginning to wonder a bit about that thing poking your cheek out like that. ;)

O durn, and here I'm a great big ocean away.
Congrats to Jaime as well. Another happy couple it seems. :)

Jamie -- you and Shaun went WAY more formal than us, but I notice one similarity. We too have a pic of us trying to stowe our drinks while we posed! LOL
You guys look so great together! Congratulations! And so damn happy!! No wailing in Wales! (Here's a weird bit of trivia, speaking of Wales. My school uses the Welsh flag as our school flag. It's our school colors, green and white, and our mascot is a red dragon (even though your flag is a red griffin.))

Jamie -- how long were you together before you decided to do the deed?

Hey Tom! Glad to see the Welsh flag is flying proud in Washington DC!!!!!
The reason we went formal is the fact the ceremony is legal and formal, so we though what the hell, lets go the full hog! Plus the building we had it is the Dylan Thomas Museum in Swansea (his and my home town), and I thought why not honour the brilliant drunk by doing the deed in his magnificent building!
Shaun have been together just over 5 years.

What?!? Legal and formal? What kind of backward, world-ending, Satan-loving country do you live in, anyway. Here in America, people know better! They amend their constitutions to define "marriage" as a "union of one man and one woman" like it SHOULD be!

;0)
The ceremony gives Shaun and I the same visitation rights, inheritance rights, etc as straight couples who marry. Otherwise, if I died and Shaun and I lived together (in what would have been my house in name) for 20+ years, he would have no legal rights to stay there, or to anything of mine etc, etc

I had to "buy into" the house in order to be able to keep it if Eric should die, otherwise we wouldn't have THAT right, either. Oh, wait... we don't have visitation rights, inheritence rights, or ANY of the rights of straight couples who marry.
But I can see where us getting those rights would destroy the fundamentals of a marriage between one man and one woman as a sacred event overseen by God.
