Fluffer Nutter
OK in my house this a sandwich made with Fluff and peanut butter, which by the way is pretty tasty.
Umm, isn't this a "support" position in the adult film industry? Or is that just a fluffer?

Hmm. Works part time in the church where her father is pastor, eh? The
same pastor who performed their wedding ceremony?
Ummmm, yeah. I'm gonna have to go ahead and call "BULLSHIT" on her 'it's
not religious' stance, mmKay?

Quote from Kevin's link: "Bird's father, Doug Bird, pastor of Roseville's Abundant Life Fellowship, said he is urging couples not to sign the new marriage forms, and that he is getting some support from congregants and colleagues at local churches."
Well what the fuck should all those people get married for at ALL then. It IS a bleeding financial contract (granted with some pretty strong emotional attachment in most cultures, but nevertheless). Besides, it seems insane that the marriage license SHOULD say "bride" and "groom". As far I understand it, you are "bride" and "groom" on the WEDDING. In the marriage you would be husband and wife... and strictly speaking, I don't see why a license couldn'r say alternatively "husband and wife", "husband and husband" or "wife and wife".
*sigh* People---

Because California's marriage license is gender-neutral, these fuckheads won't sign it. And so now they aren't married.
Good, maybe they won't believe in premaritial sex and never reproduce.
What is it about these people that they are so insecure they have to have it spelled out for them. I wish I was standing next to both of them with a T-shirt that has on it "I'm with stupid people."

Funny, Eric and I feel like a couple.

You know, Tom, as soon as you put the words THREAD DRIFT in the title it suddenly went back on topic. That's just weird.

--------
Because in some traditions, it is not a financial contract, but a religious sacrament or at the very least a sacred, rather than merely legal, covenant.
Financial contracts are for business partners, not life partners.
That being said, I think the hair-splitting over the words on a legal document is a bit silly.

Unfortunately, its history betrays that. Marriage's origins are in the transfer of land and wealth between men, using a woman as part of that bargain. It has certainly EVOLVED into something more complex, but there's no denying where it started. I've said it a million times, I have no issues with words, as long as the rights are the same -- call it "marriage" call it "domestic partners" whatever, I don't care. If people want to be babies about a word, let them.
Don't even get me started on the separation of Church and state -- which shouldn't recognize a "sacred, rather than legal covenant" as anything more than a contract. Why should they?

I know. I was thinking the same thing. I'm renaming this thread, "Give Tom Money"

I look at those type people and treat them as spoiled kids, I don't reward my kids when they act like that, we shouldn't either. What they want, rings of "seperate but equal" . A marriage is an act between two people that love each other, it's a communal sharing of that love. And if you believe in God, it's a moment you pledge that love in front of God and "Man". The rights are the great fringe beneifits that go with that.
