My wife lets me make her wardrobe decisions. She's always asking me 'does
this go with this?'. I love colour and design. I love musicals, and sing
baritone in a men's chorus. I'm a sensitive sort who can get misty over the
sappiest commercial on TV. I love to vacuum. I'm a great listener and
confidant to our entire circle of friends - men and women.

Yet none of my gay friends have ever tried to pick me up. None of their
friends who have just met me and know nothing about my orientation or
marital status have ever tried to pick me up. It's a little insulting.

Am I that ugly, or do I just exude 'straight' somehow? How the hell does
gaydar work, anyway?

One of those cases where, if you HAVE to ask, you will probably never know.

Mine didn't even come on when a colleague, during a business trip, invited me back to his place to show off his white BMW and his pet parrot.

I've never used "Wanna see my parrot?" as a chat up line so I can see someone missing that one lol

Something about slot-A in tab-B -- or, wait, tab-B and tab-B -- no, no, maybe tab-B in vertical slot-C...

Hold on, I have the manual upstairs someplace...!

"Wanna see my parrot?"

And your bird can sing!

Al, I believe there was a list of people in a Simpsons episode.

That's one of the funniest things about people finding out you're gay. It has been for me at least. People, usually girls, always ask you "so who else is gay". I always want to say "I'll just take out the list now".

I think gaydar is something that takes practice, but it can be learned. I've
been working with my boss for 8 years now, and he's as 80s straight as they
come... his gaydar is now razor sharp. He has alerted me on several
occasions of when someone has checked me out. What a great boss!

I always told him, if you think they are, there's a good chance they are. It's
not a given of course, but if some intuition goes off in your head, then that's
about half of it. The other half is generally, a certain too short hair cut, or
too much hair product, tight shirts, a twinkle in their eye.

It's the eyes man..gay men have big eyes.

I've got a pretty good Gaydar, for a straight guy.  But, I spent a few of my formative years going to gay bars and hanging with my gay friends.  I upset my 17 yr old daughter once by putting on my "fey" voice and doing a stereotypically "gay" vamp around the house...she started chastising me...I stopped her telling her that I had friends that behaved that way and I wasn't "making fun" of anyone...she laughed and said that the reason she was bothered was that I was a little too good at it...

By the way, thank you guys for all dancing around the "Am I that ugly?" part
of my post there.

Much appreciated.

They say Takei sent Shatner an invite to his wedding after all and Will never even had the courtesy to respond. So, apparently, age and impending mortality hasn't made him any less of a jerkoff.

P.S. Anyone else notice this thread is now on page 69. (Insert Beavis & Butthead voices here: "Heh! Heh! Heh! He said '69'!" "Yeah, pretty cool!")
