It's been my experience that whenever there was an upcoming prolonged separation looming, argument frequency and intensity skyrocketed.
I've heard this before -- and think it's very right. I was very stressed over the trip, the importance of it, etc, and though he was very supportive, he knew how much he was going to miss me -- and that I was "sticking" him with all the domestic responsibilities while I was gone.

If you are lucky, Tom, the skirmishes lead to better understanding and though some scars might sting you take the pain for what it got you.

I very much hope that I've earned that particular "fame" any form of discussion skills or similar that I may have, rather than anything freakish in the way previously discussed.

Well we all have our faults... I'll be the first to admit, I'm the nervous one
out of the two.
However, it really urks me when someone (my bf) just has such a streak
of indecisiveness. And you when you try to have a conversation of what
should we do if "A" happens? Or what if "B" happens... he just explodes.
It's aggravating. I understand he has to stay to shut down his hotel, but I
don't want to be:
A) trapped in a hotel without power
B) be in frickin' downtown F'n New Orleans during a Hurricane, even
though there won't be anyone in the 'dome this time and
C) I don't want to coop Colito up in a stuffy hotel room for days on end

Thanks Geoff! I plan on drowning in Grey Goose just as soon as I can get my
hands on some.

Well, my own dabbling into that area would "merely" include some amateur acting and amateur directing (stage and "screen", so to speak), and in the latter case taking part in writing the script for a TV pilot that me and some friends financed, produced and tried to sell in to any Swedish production company (no takers at the time, though I'm curious we'd have done if we'd come along with it a year or two later... seems like things similar in mood and thinking to what we were up to started popping up around that later time). But I bet there'll be plenty for us to discuss over the years to come. :)
Tom also wrote: "I'm not the jealous type. Eric gets a LOT of attention from people -- not just that he's a shameless flirt, but he's SO much better looking than me. Guys go out of their way to come on to him -- sometimes right in front of me!"
I recognise the fact that different people suffer differently from the freen eyed monster, but at the end of the day, it all comes down to faith in one's partner (or not), I guess. After all, while attention can be a nuisance, of course, the real thing is how the other person acts in response to it. Even playfulness, playing along kind of responses, might not be reason for jealousy if there's sufficient trust in that the partner won't be crossing certain lines. If that trust isn't there, or becomes damaged for whatever reason, I don't think it even takes any great deal of attention to generate jealousy.
Also worth noting of course is that there are degrees and types of jealousy. During my least pleasant relationship (and ironically my second longest), my girlfriend at the time tended to be quite jealous of a number of my friends who happened to be women. Although, the main reason for the jealousy was not that she feared that it involved more than friendship, but rather the fact that good communication and friendship was what was missing in our relationship. As such, it was never the "threat" of other women in that sense, but that some of these women had what she somehow was unable to get, i.e. an open and nigh unlimited flow of conversation about just about anything.

Thanks for those kind, Geoff. Although there is a part of me now that sincerely hopes you're not sitting around smiling at me "behind my back" when I'm trying to say something less funny, more serious like. ;)
And for what it's worth and while we're at it, I do enjoy your presence in here as well.

Eric took this great pic of me and Betty last night. I loved it so much, I made it my Facebook profile pic!

Although, Betty looks a little stressed out, doesn't she?

Tom, that's the same look my dog used to have when she cuddled with me, a smug kind of "look who's hugging me and not you" look.

There's an ugly jealousy-game between Betty and the Mighty Stash, our other good lookin' dog. Here's my favorite pic of him (again -- I'm pretty sure I've posted it before):

Great pictures, Tom (and yes I do believe we've seen that nice picture of MS before).
I have to say that I think your new (compared to your Superman avatar) look becomes you. Especially professionally, I'd venture. You look very much like a teacher, and a good one at that. Of course, I've got no reference to judge if you actually are a good teacher, but in a society where image rules as strongly as in our, I guess you'd be almost there with this anyway. And oh, this is by no means a way of saying that you're not a good teacher, my not being able to judge from afar without seeing you in action obviously means there's no way to say either good or bad, or any grading scale in between. Just to make that abundantly clear! :)

Wha-Keem --
Here's a pic of me in London, the morning we were catching our train up to Edinburgh. It's 5am and we were ALL half-asleep and grumpy at breakfast.

My unshaven, unkempt look ought to make one think twice about how "teacher"-ish I look.
edited to add: Note the NYJ cap -- "J-E-T-S! Jets, Jets, JETS!" (I already have my Favre jersey, those who feel like making fun.)
