Are you talking about that girl with a horse book, Tom? And perhaps a film as well?  Don't know where I came across it a few years ago (only the title mind you, but my girl friend, as I recall was familar with it).

And in Swedish the title (translated into "Min vän Flicka" or similar) became quite funny, as "flicka" in Swedish means "girl". I actually think I first saw the title in Swedish and then was a bit taken aback when the original title wasn't "My Friend Girl".

Now I wish I could remember more precisely where I came across it...

Someone told me once..."if he reads Wonder Woman, Vertigo Comics and X-Men, he must be gay"....in your opinion, is that true?

Damn.....i quit WW and Astonishing X-Men, but i keep reading Fables and Jack of Fables....

And seriously, exactly what have I said that makes you infer that I  a) want celebreties put at risk

Nobody is deleting, tracing or stopping those posts or even objecting.

(and what risk are we talking about here exactly?),

I don't know. Ellen has money and she can protect herself I guess.

and b) want what expanded further in what way?

You wrote this, which supports your theory that that pile of vile bile should have a link, since they may also dislike what they see here. What do you mean? They find more that they dislike and will come to their senses?

and the people spreading vile bile in thick layers on the forum of Brian's local paper would probably feel the same way about our celebration over here as well.

I may not believe in Utopias, but I can't see any faults in aiming for those stars and possibly getting a bit closer.

We have one aiming for the stars goal and one Voltair goal:

All I can do is do my best and live out my life (a little Voltaire reference there).

But Tom's is more like Rosseau.

Actually, it's CANDIDE -- one of my Voltaire favorites.  I even like the musical (more of an operetta) by the incomparable Leonard Bernstein.

"No, we won't think 'noble' because we're not noble.  We won't live in beautiful harmony because there's no such thing in this world, nor should there be.  We promise only to do our best and live out our lives; dear God, that's all we can promise in truth..."

"if he reads Wonder Woman, Vertigo Comics and X-Men, he must be gay"....

I read WW when Byrne was on it -- nothing gay there (although I had my fantasies about Champion... lol, oh, that wide back, why, it could support the world...)

I've never really been much of an X-Men fan, though I tried to read it at it's most impenetrable time, in the early '90's, so that probably isn't fair.  I enjoyed HIDDEN YEARS a lot.  Didn't read Vertigo, either.

But then again, I've never been much of a gay... (only in sex)

Tom you're in music and theater, kind, nurturing and great putting together color, don't sell yourself short. :0)

Edited to add: Tom was your play filmed and will it be on-line anywhere?

We have been filmed -- several times -- we also made a CD.  When I get back to the States (tomorrow!!!!), I'm going to put some of it up online for people to see and hear.  Right now, I'm just anxious to get my tired ass home.

Jeez, I've been reading through this thread on and off for the past week hoping I could learn something now that one of my friends, of almost 30 years, may have come out of the closet.

...don't sell yourself short

Funniest thing I've read yet today! (Thanks, Jodi - I'm home recovering from
a small day surgery. That hurt, but it also put a smile on my face! Musical
theatre, colour sense, don't sell yourself short... ~snort~ )

Jodi: ?????????? Talley are you drunk?

Don't I wish....

Nah, that's my standard AM greeting when I serve breakfast on that other board I post on. I'm a bit of a WKRP freak....
