I prefer to think of myself as "pale-friendly".

That's pretty much what we've got happening here, isn't it?

Which world are you on?

Or are you just upset that we all didn't just stop in, say nothing more than
"congratulations" to the happy couple and let this thread die months ago?

A part of me probably is, yes. But it's not like we should stop writing posts, it has nothing to do with that, more like that I want the world around us to having seen millions of gay weddings so it's not sensational, so the effect of that "boredom" would be the reason why we stop writing. -"OK another marriage" -"So what". And whether it's gay or not is most likely not mentioned, the thread title might be "my Big Fat Wedding".

At this rate, it may outdistance the late, lamented "Boys Will Be Boys" thread...

Which world am I on?

The one where friends get together and celebrate other friends. The one
where they laugh and share some racy banter and celebrate all that's good
and fun and weird and great and dirty and good and wonderful in the world
because, hey, that's what celebrations are for, period. It's a pretty nice
world.

Is that good? I want to see the day when a gay marriage is followed by normal best wishes and the corny stuff that you see when it's about a straight wedding only.

With one limited exception (that I can think of) who that has posted to this thread doesn't want to see that?  But the reality of the world is that we are not there yet.  Hopefully, someday we will.  However, if we restrict the conversation and do not discuss the issue we limit the potentiality for such a world.  This thread, if you have been reading it, is not simply a guest book for warm wishes.  It certainly has been that but is also  a conversation one which has evolved from topic to topic. The thread started as Tom celebrating his marriage.  Those of us who count ourselves his friend (as I am honored to so do) are conversing with him and others.

To this end, Brian raised a point (ironically not materially dissimilar to what you stated above) lamenting that there are those who do not see the good in gay marriage.  This is a point that has been addressed repeatedly in this thread.  Instead of joining the discussion, however, you chose to accuse Brian of using this thread (and by extension Tom and Eric's nuptials) as a spotlight on his progressiveness.  Nothing could be further from the truth, just a I do not believe your statement (quoted above) is your way of establishing how progressive you are.  Unless you are telling us that you have used Tom and Eric's wedding to show how open minded or progressive you are (which again, I don't think you are doing).  Do you recognize how insulting your assumption and accusation is?

And reading that a tear welled up in my eye . . .

Not to, ahem, break the mood, but to soften some of my playful diggs at Kevin -- Kevin I suspect Rose McGowan * is your one of your ideal women, am I right?

*She is babetacular!

No one wears a ball of string like Rose, that's for sure.
