Victor, according to what I read, Claremont wanted to kill professor Xavier and Wolverine. Wolverine had to return as a villain, resurrected by the Hand, several issues later. Plus some other stuff now I don't rerember (but there is an Italian site where they talked about all this. Very detailed. I'm going to re-read he article, then I can summarize it here).

Part of the resurrected Wolverine plot was re-used by Mark Millar during his one year run on WOLVERINE.

Edited to add: New Mutants reprinted in Essential format? That's something I want now! I haven't any issue of the original series.

In about a week or so, I'm going to have these on eBay for cheap. I'll make a post with a link in the trading forum if you want me to.

Victor, what Francesco said.  Logan would die, be resurrected by the Hand, and become a villain.  Jean was going to go undercover and work with him in trying to bring the real Logan back.  Jean and Logan would form a connection that surpassed anything she had with Scott.  Claremont didn't flat out say she'd wind up with Logan, but it's heavily implied.

Xavier would die fighting the Shadow King and I think Magneto would take over the school again.   I don't like the idea of killing Xavier for good and I sure wouldn't have liked Jean winding up with Logan.

I remember Claremont saying that Harras argued what about the ongoing Wolverine series.  Claremont said that they'd have to adjust their stories and Harras wouldn't go along with that.  I think that was just one of a number of conflicts they had.

I didn't read Millar's story, but I have seen people mention that it was similar to Claremont's rejected story.

I heard about the Wolverine in the Hand story. Which honestly I find cool. Killing the Professor not so cool.

I just read the Inferno isue where X-Factor fights the X-Men. I just loved it so much. Its amazing seeing Cyclops and the others back in X-Men. Made me realise how much I missed them all in the same book. For a guy who gets the rep of doing too much dialogue. Claremont writes great super brawls.

I like how they are delaying Madelyne vs Jean til the end. Im saving my biggest cat fight hiss for it. Yes I know thats immature.

Ive had my fill of Dazzler at this point. I really want her gone.

Well, I don't think she lasted much longer after INFERNO, but I don't know when exactly she left as my X-Reading was sporadic at best until Lee came aboard.

I never really "got" Dazzler being in the X-Men. She just never seemed to fit.

I don't know for sure. But it seems like it was Marvel's last attempt to make people care about her. She is just not interesting. How she kept a solo book for over 50 issues (I think thats right) is beyond me.

Wasn't Dazzler the first title to go to direct-only?  I think that was the key to its "success*.

*Crap, it's only the 21st and I'm out of my month's suplly of ironic quotation marks.  Gotta ease up on those suckers.

And neither did Longshot. That era led to me dropping the book for good. And from what I've seen I haven't really missed much.

I kinda understood Longshot. He seemed, at least, to fit in somewhat. It seems to me Dazzler was just there for Longshot to have someone to bone while he was there.

Longshot and Mojo, ugh.  CC needed to learn not EVERYTHING should be shoehorned into Professor Xavier's School for Gifted Children.

Exactly! At least Dazzler was a mutant. Longshot was a genetically engineered alien from another dimension. I hated Mojo, Spiral, etc. all being shoved into the X-universe.
