Darren,

I can't honestly remember exact dates of
when I bought the art right now, but below is a brief
list of the Byrne art I own (and I can later on share a
more accurate list by issue and page numbers when
I feel better (I'm sick today)):

* Freaks (from The History of the DC Universe
Portfolio)
* Next Men (Jasmine in the sewers and exhausted)
* Batman/ Captain America (Joker meets Red Skull)
* Danger Unlimited (Belabet changes and falls)

and...

* (ON HOLD) Next Men (police connect the Next Men
to comics)

I also own many of Matt Webb's color guides to
pages that I'd love to own but I imagine belong to
others.

I hope to get one of the JLA or Doom Patrol pages
showcasing Cliff Steele, as he is one of my fave
characters of all time.

Once I get my home studio situated how I'd like it,
John's art will share space with the other art I have
by Chris Sprouse, Evan Dorkin, John Romita (print),
Darryl Banks, Deon Nuckols, John Thompson,
Jeffrey Moy (print), Dave Johnson (print), Michael
O'Hare, Joe Madureira, and myself. It should look
really cool in here.

Darren - great idea.  The value of comicbook art is rising rapidly. Something like that would be a good step towards legitimizing comicbook art and artists.  However, the sheer number of pieces by Mr. Byrne alone would make this a very daunting task!

Well, I'm sure there are record keepers very keen on tracking Kirby's stuff, and his stuff is A) more voluminous, B) more spotty, and C) done at a time when there were NO records of this variety really, and it was far more likely that the art was going to get destroyed!

Seems to me, there's something hinky with that autograph, like it's been pasted on.

The autograph doesn't bug me so much - there's a lot of JPEG artifacting going on - and if this is a third or fourth generation JPEG it could easily explain the smudges.  (You see similar artifacts around his elbows.)

It's the mask that has me questioning the authenticity... it's not a typical John Byrne Doctor Doom face.  Maybe it was a convention sketch done entirely with Sharpie or something - that *might* explain it.

Hmm, now that you guys are going on this thing, it might just be a swipe, Art-o-Graphed up, by a semi-pro, like myself. Look at those rivets in the mask. I may have to drag out the FF issues.....the all-Doom issue...maybe?

Yeah - you got some nice stuff in there, Dwayne!

I'm still waiting for the "right" Byrne piece to show up for me to buy.
