Would a standard for the scans on this image gallery be acceptable? I know we have a wide variety of skill sets of people posting, but maybe a listing of what settings to use in your application. For instance:

1. 600 pixel width for all images
2. 72 DPI resolution
3. Saved as JPG's at 80% compression (Irfanview/Microsoft Photo Editor) or Quality 8/High (Photoshop)

Linda is probably better suited on giving tips on scanning and saving.

dont think you could apply that to all images, the scan of the FF poster would be impossible to make out at only 600,maybe special exemtions could be made for particularly amazing images?

I believe that the 700x max that was requested for image size was more for normal comic page shaped images that can be resized to fit on the page without having to scroll left and right. Images like double page spreads or posters would be way to small at 700x to be appreciated.  So my vote is to resize to 700x where practical and post wider images when necessary. What say Ye?

Does anyone have a larger version of the Kree/Skrull war image?  I would love to try my hand at inking that one if I had a good size original to work from.

I only have a larger scan of the part that is already inked (by Jack Abel I think) from the old Marvel Age mag where it was published. You can still ink that page if you blow it up some.  It would just be more like inking breakdowns instead of full pencils.

How about this as an option:

It's probably a rare moment when JB and I are on the exact same wavelength, but that was exactly what I was thinking of responding with. I just didn't want to start posting a continual thread of recommendations as if I was one of the moderators, which some of my postings today may seem like.

In short, it works for me. We can always download it and rotate the image to see it full width.

JB "How about this as an option:"

That option works for me. It sort of reminds of the
Fantastic Four issue #252.

Dan ~ upload your avatar to your account here in the JBF, it's not showing for any of us.  Geocities doesn't allow hotlinking.

Guys, here's the deal from your friends in Byrne Robotics R&D.  (In other words, me.)

The 600-width rule DOES NOT APPLY to this stickied thread.  I want Dan to have the best, biggest, clearest, sharpest images possible for the Galleries, okay?  If you need a standard, call it 800 pixels width, 200-300 dpi, JPG at 80% quality.

To keep the server from getting bogged down, next month I'm going to start snipping the earlier parts of this thread ... so Dan, whatever you're gonna use for the Galleries, scoop 'em out of this thread as soon as you can after they're posted.  I don't want anything huge sitting here for more than a couple of weeks.
