I'd have to say Avengers.

Uncle Rog had many great runs, but I'd pick his Amazing Spider-Man as my favorite. In fact, the Stern/JR Jr. is my second-favorite Amazing run ever, behind only Gerry Conway/Ross Andru and ahead of Lee/Ditko.

Stern brought back a lot of the fun soap opera elements to the book. Anyone remember the love, er, rectangle with Peter Parker, Amy Powell, Mary Jane Watson and Felicia Hardy? He made sure the supporting cast was well-defined and an active part of the book.

Stern also had a real knack for exploring Spider-Man's villains (such as the Vulture) and adding some real depth to these characters. And, of course, the crowning achievement of his run was the Hobgoblin mystery -- easily one of the best Spider-Man storylines ever.

FYI: I've been reviewing some of the Stern/JR Jr. Amazing Spider-Man issues over at Samruby.com, in case anyone is interested.

Dr. Strange !

BTW: His DS vs. Dracula (#58-62) is collected in the Montessi Formula TPB (along with Wolfman/Englehart/Colan/Palmer's original arc from D #44 and DS #14) !

I like Stern's run on DS because of the way he developed the relationships between DS & Wong & Clea & Sarah Wolfe & Morganna Blessing !  There are lots of humorous moments and insights into all of these characters.  Some sadness too !  Also, Stern had some top notch art talent during his run, i.e. MIchael Golden, Paul Smith, Steve Leialoha and Terry Austin !  Would be great to see Roger back on the good doctor !

His run on the Avengers, hands down for me.

And I loved his West Coast Avengers mini-series.  Too bad he didn't get the chance to run both franchises simultaneously like he was slotted to do.

"I will say that the Stern/Buscema/Palmer Avengers were much better than the dreck that had preceeded it ( issues 205-254 )"

************************************************************ *********

You do realize that the last thirty issues of said "dreck" (227-254) were written by Stern, right?

Probably the ASM run - wonderful wonderful stuff. The Hobgoblin!

Just beats the Avengers run which I only read after the fact and so it has slightly less impact.

Haven't read his entire AVENGERS run so I'll say CAPTAIN AMERICA.
