That's pretty funny about Madrox. Now that I think about it, has there ever been a Multiple Man commission?
Has anyone complained about getting (or not getting) a "full" figure? i.e. - "that's only half of a Magneto" or "that's only one-quarter of an Iceman in the upper left box"?
I imagine you have to deal with all sorts of both compliments and complaints.

I love this commission. Wonderful idea and even better execution.

Looks wonderful- also want to second Brad's question. And, are there any concessions you make for number of figures present? The Iceman in the corner box really counts as a single figure?

••
Has to, otherwise, as I have noted before elsewhere, we really do get
people trying to whittle it away -- "That's only half a figure!"
Imagine the nightmare of trying to price a piece if everything had to be
pro-rated like that! "But his right foot is cropped -- that's not a whole
figure!"
So, in the end, the charge is by the figure, with some often tossed in for
free if I feel the piece needs more to make it complete. But any figure
that is specifically requested must, perforce, be paid for!
Really, tho, what's being paid for is the full, complete piece, and those
who would worry about the number of figures, or background details, or
anything else that might fret them ---- well, they would be better off not
contemplating placing an oder, methinks!

Fitting the signature in the comics code authority box is inspired!

Methinks this line-up had a good chance to happen if JB had been the X-
writer, instead of Chris Claremont.

Good call, Flavio! In the alternative universe where Claremont left X-Men and JB stayed on, I can imagine that would be the cover to Uncanny X-Men # 144.

I was thinking about X-Related alternate universes at lunch today, further
pondering on the "What Would You Change?" time travel thread. Suppose I
could go back to 1976, and tell myself that when Archie Goodwin offers me
UNCANNY X-MEN, I should say "No, thanks."
It is not excessive ego to suggest that single change would send out ripples
that would change the marketplace as we know it most dramatically!

Here's a question I'll toss out to the Forum. . .
When I've been called upon to do cover recreations or reimaginings with the
attendant copy, I am well aware that I can nail the big title lettering pretty
well, but my regular display lettering (the blurbs and the like) pretty much
sucks. So, I've been thinking -- what if I scanned the cover at hi-res,
stripped out everything that wasn't the copy (blurbs, title, balloons, etc), and
printed that onto the blank stock I then draw the new art on?

JB,
After posting the original cover to X-Men 1 on page 1 of this thread I noticed a couple things...
1. I like what you did with Jean. She looks like she's actually involved instead of just kinda standing around in the background.
2. You improved the perspective on the confrontation between Iceman and Magneto. In Kirby's original, Bobby appears to be throwing some weird curve balls that hit Magneto in the back!
