Fantastic issue. Few artists have depicted the Hulk's power and mass in such a visceral way.

This is one of my favorites as well. Some of the best all out action fight
scenes in comics. I liked the fact that some of the most powerful heroes,
any one that should be able to go up against the Hulk alone would team
up. Loved how Namor looked here, nice and lean compared to the others.

Isn't it funny how certain comics strike certain chords in your brain, forever implanting a memory? Alpha Flight #11 was one, this was another. I was fully in JB mode by this time and he was my favorite writer and artist. However, I was also buying a ton of other books, and it was hard to afford all the comics I wanted. So one day, during a huge snow storm, my older brother offered me a $1 to walk to the store to get a jar of something (tarter sauce I think). He bribed me with what I was most susceptible to: free comic book money.  So I made the walk in what was all but a blizzard. And what do I find at Warehouse Markets? A new JB Hulk! What could be better? Of course, I was completely frozen by the time I made the round trip, but I had my Hulk #316, and what an amazing issue it was! I still have that issue in a box in the closet, and one of these days I am going to track down an original page from it (just as I did a couple of pages from AF #11).

Still one of my favorite issues of the Hulk. Pages 8 and 10 are great; especially Simon's comment while being pushed into the ground and Herc falling on top of the Hulk.

(For the record, the Wonder Man outfit in this issue is still my favorite WM outfit - minus the glasses, of course)

one of my comic collecting periods ended before Doc Samson - then he existed when i picked these issues up on the subsequent comic collecting period - can anyone give his back story and how he came about in 25 words or less?

thanks, and to stay on topic, i liked this and the other JB issues of Hulk.

edited to add: yes, this is my favorite Wonder Man costume, too

My favorite issue of the bunch.

Same here, Paulo.  This issue shows just how powerful the Hulk really is, and features the Sub-Mariner!  (And who doesn't love Namor, the Avenging Son?)

And Hercules, a highlight for me (since JB's Herc was something of a rarity).  A favorite panel of mine is the one where Herc swats the Hulk with a pipe.

Love those three panels with Iron Man threatening Doc Samson about taking care of the Hulk business. Great new costume for the good Doctor. Loved seeing She Hulk in this. Always wanted more interaction between the cousins. One of my favorite JB issues.

Argh, that fumetti piece at the end is even more annoying now!
