I fear that this thread will just help Ray Kryssing make more money off the non-thinkers.
A pity. He's not without talent.

He did respond to me that he was given these pieces of art to ink and wasn't aware who had initially drawn them..he mentiones he will credit the original artist after the sale has gone through.

Which pieces? The layton IronMan redo looks like a trace of a inked source, not a pencilled source. It'd be quite a coincidence for two inkers to make exactly the same inking decisions.

I thought the Iron Man armor from the early 200's was supposed to be
red and silver not red and white even though it may have appeared red
and white on the printed page. Was it red and white?
••
It was red and silver, with white substituting for the latter on the page.
It was supposed to be blue and silver, as was the armor wore by
Giant Man in WHAT IF 3. When I (mostly) designed the suit, that was the
colors I asked for. Somewhere along the way, Mark Gruenwald decided
on red and white (a combination that works only in rare circumstances),
with the result that the armor looked to me, from then on, like a coloring
mistake.

It's called the Silver Centurion armor. It was silver.

I don't buy that...If he is not aware of who originally drew them...how is going to guive credit after the sale?
Further his EbAY posting makes it appear as if these are original works of his own, while they are patently not....
If anyone would like a traced copy of a famous artist's work I would be happy to do so for free...

I just read a couple of weeks ago somewhere ( maybe in an issue of BACK ISSUE?) where Layton is claiming credit of creating the Red & White armor. I remember JB saying he did but couldn't find the thread to look it up. Thanks for posting that.
Oh yeah, Kryssing's a crook. No attempt to even make it look like anyone other than who he traced it from.
Andy Smith, didn't he used to ink you and Bart Sears back in the day?

Just got back from the Motor City con...
Good reading here, folks.
Quite interesting...
I like the idea that someone re-penciled the exact art for him to re-ink
exactly.
still a jerk.
what ya gonna do?

If I would ask someone to re-draw an artwork by some other artist, I'd tell him "Do it using YOUR style!". Those Iron Man sketches are surely good... but, hey, why should I ask someone to draw like Bob Layton, if I can have the real deal?
Anyway, I liked Ray Krissing's work on JB's pencils for ASM #9, and add my name to the list of those who disliked Scott Hanna's work on ASM (but he was awesome on JR Jr.'s pencils).

Too bad this guy is such a small blip on the radar. What he is doing is no different than forgery. None of his auctions credit any artist other than himself.
I wonder if I could sell a movie script I wrote back in 1977. It is called Star Wars.

I'm sure the guy knew who the original artists were. If he's into drawing comics, most people have a good sense of top artists and their styles. This reminds me of a guy I met at one of my first comic cons. He was airbrushing this really cool picture of the new X-Men in the old black and yellow costumes. I was floored at how cool this picture was and went on and on about how great this guys work was. I asked him if he drew the picture and he indicated that he did. A couple of years later I saw the same picture again. Guess who's art it was...John Bryne! I respect inkers and colorist, but at least give the original artist credit. I don't think it takes away from your work as an inker or colorist if you say you did not draw the picture.
