That Best of the Brave and the Bold cover was what made me pick up that issue years ago. If I recall correctly, it was the first time I encountered the work of Neal Adams. So I can thank you for that, Ed.
Just goes to show how wrong the current powers that be are when they encourage all those generic pose covers.

I love Mr. Hannigan's work. Many of those covers stir the 12-year-old kid in me, spotting them on the spinner rack and frantically searching for the change to buy them.

I enjoyed SKULL AND BONES immensely! As someone who lived in Russia, I
heartily welcome any comic that does a good job capturing the atmosphere
of a foreign country. In the US-based comic industry, that takes real
talent!

Thanks, Flavio. I was hoping to go to Russia to research the comic, but it was not to be. My wife majored in Russian Studies and went there when she was in college. She traveled all over the country, including Siberia. She took lots of photos which were very helpful to me in drawing the book.

The interesting thing about all these covers is that they don't all look the same as each other. Most artists have a similar style even when inked by different people but the layouts are all so varied.

Flavio is right on. It was good to see Russians as real people and not just
stereotypes that showed up so often if the comics and movies.

I just have to echo the thoughts of many of you and say these are amazing
examples of cover work. I cannot tell you how many of these books I
bought just for the cover. I believe I have about 80% of the books in this
thread...all purchased based on the cover!

By the way, if I can hype myself just a tiny bit more...check out the 100 HULKS
cover that I did and Dick Giordano finally got around to inking, Dick
recently had cataract surgery and it took him a while to get back to
inking.
In this one the Hulk manages to inadvertently smash the world! Oops!

This is a project of Hero Initiative, a charity that helps out comics
pros that are in need for one reason or another. Worth supporting.
I was also very happy to get the cover lettered by my pal Annette
Kawecki, one of the better letterers from those old days. Annette is a
doctor now but I was able to persuade her to revisit her former
glorious career, and she did a fantastic job. Hey, if the world ever
runs out of sick people, she'll always have a home in comics.
