I think it has something to do with "Marvel Style" -- where plots are submitted first to the artist who then does layouts/pencils to show the progression of the plot -- then specific script is added to the panels as drawn.

I think --- and I could very well be wrong.

Andrew,

The art is all finished and has been for a while. I'm almost finished scripting
#5 and Greg and Gerry are working on the colors. When I finish a script, I
send it along to John Workman and he does the letters on b&w scans. He
then sends a lettered proof and a file of just the letters to me and Greg
Cordier. I make sure everything's good and Greg merges the letters with his
colored art file. Once we get all the pages done, we send it to IDW.

Wooohoooo!

Finally had time to swing by my LCS with the great hope of # 1 finally having arrived (as suggested when I ordered the mini), only to find out that BOTH issues were waiting for me. One happy camper for sure.

Haven't had the time to sit down and read them through properly, but I couldn't keep myself from browsing through them (especially issue 2, since that was entirely new material for me) and it looks ever so promising.

What perhaps struck me most was how great the colour looks. I mean I love everything we've seen in b/w in here and the entire Ashcan edition, but the colours just made it look ever so much more like one of the old time, great reads from my childhood. Hat's off to the colour department.
And I still really like the skull guy (whatever his name may be). Two cliffhanger endings with him in the spotlight is just making me drool.

On a related note, I was really pleased to see that the ads (all in-house as far as my glances could see) were collected at the end so that the story wasn't disturbed. Is this common practice at IDW? If so this company has risen yet another notch in my book.

All in all so far, still giddy about the whole thing, and really looking forward to sitting down and enjoying the first two issues back to back. :)
And then wait for #3 of course!

Rock on, WO & JB!

After reading both of them all I can say is great job Wayne. Really liked what I saw. You and JB make a great team.

It must be fantastic to see something you wrote with JB's art. Lucky dog.

I've just got my copy, in a comic shop in Paris (well done Wayne), and about to read it.

Wayne, i have a question. I didn't want to be too curious anyway. But regarding this experience and adventure, you're the perfect man to ask. I also wanted to do the same, but J.B. refused my story.
- What fee/ expenses did you have to face to get this comic published (i mean : i'm sure there was not only the price of J.B. commission, could have been Greg coloring, or whatever) ? I don't mean the amount, just the kind.
- Did you get your money back ? (i mean, if the price of the solds did cover the expenses)

That's all i need to know, i don't care for extra money you may get, even if i wish you many !
; )
Thank-you,
David
