If you want to see some more Russ Heath art [along with Joe Kubert and John Severin] pick up a copy of Showcase Presents: Enemy Ace.  You'll never regret it!

Heath did some great work. It's hard to compare to Kubert on Sgt. Rock, but Heath held his own and then some.

Ha! He did that "Roman Soldiers" ad? That's great!

Probably seen by more kids than his art inside the covers, tho.

In 1981, on my first day of 8th grade English class, we were taking turns introducing ourselves to the English teacher. When she got to me I mentioned that I was very interested in drawing and comics. She followed up with "Really? My father is a comic artist!" Thinking it was most likely a small time comic guy I never heard of, I asked who he was. When she told me he was Russ Heath I was blown away. By that point I was already a huge DC war comic fan and owned most of the Our Army at War/Sgt Rock comics. I felt (and feel) that Heath is easily one of the top artists on that series and the DC war books in general. Later on in the school year she brought in a scrap book with photos of and drawings by her Dad that I drooled over.
She was really one of the coolest teachers I had in my High School years.
