JB & WO -

My copy will be coming in the mail sometime in April.  I am trying to stay off this thread so I don't spoil the fun !  I will give feedback when I get my copy.  Looking forward to it !

I loved the fact that the sound effects have quotation marks around them.

And I loved that he did the "Six Million Dollar Man" sound effects as his arm
"became bionic"! ("Nnnuhhh, nnuuhhhh, nnuuuhhhh! Nnnuhhh, nnuuhhhh,
nnuuuhhhh!")
Reminds me of when we pretended we were running "bionically" when we
were kids, and we would do the sound effects (and slow down!). Which, I
know, is the point.

Congrats once again to the whole creative team!

I just finished FX and I loved it!!!!!!!   I looked at it as a comic that kids and adults could enjoy and it was a wonderful fit for both. I could see a little boy getting completely into the FX character, this reminds me of the comics I grew up with. I don't know how many comics fit that now, but I would say very few, so this is a breath of fresh air!  It's too bad this can't be sitting it the impluse line of every grocery store just waiting at little boy eye level. I am really excited to get the next one.

The comic book store I go to, sold out instantly, I talked to the owner and he said he was going to order more, people are buying multiple copies, I am sure one to keep perfect and the other to read. I want to get another copy to give to my youngest so he can read it and enjoy it without worrying he will bend the pages. (how comics were meant to be read)

The only minor thing I think I would have changed, would be the FX on the front cover, I think it would have been better in Red, I am just a lover of Red, it just pops off the page when I see it and with the ape in blue/black the FX blends in a little more then I like. Plus the FX in the issue that the boys make is in Red. Is there a special reason for the blue? Is it because his superhero outfit is blue?

Pages 20 &21 are amazing!!!!!!!!!!!! Great job Mr Byrne.

From beginning to end the artwork rocked my socks! It was so fun to read and to look at. The expressions of the kids were right on, you could just look at their expressions and it told the story too. I gauge great art work by the fact that if I just looked at the pictures without reading the word balloons could I still tell what was going on and yes you could do that with this comic. Again very kid perfect.

As a mom I will give this a big old gold star!

"This review is positive for sure, http://www.brokenfrontier.com/reviews/details.php?id=1781 "

Kind of...although he really seems to be going out of his way to let on that he begrudgingly liked it. And he sums it by saying he wishes there was LESS of this kind of book on the shelves? First of all, why would he want to see less of something he claims to like? And second, what alternate universe does he live in where there's too many books like this available? I'd like to teleport there...

***************

That was my question, too!

I just bought FX #1 at lunch (I usually pick up my comics on Friday instead of Wednesday) and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Just great old-school comics goodness; JB and Wayne are to be congratulated on an outstanding effort.

In particular, I'd like to congratulate Wayne. I know making this comic a reality has been a big deal to you and I'm glad you were able to do it. I can't wait to read the rest of the series.

Me too. Also found it somewhat dubious to talk about all current tendencies as progress. There's some mighty bad storytelling and lack of understanding for the medium by people working in it going around... and that equates progress?

While in many respectives, FX is "retro", it is so mostly on account of relying on classic fun storytelling, and it does that REALLY well. So...

I picked up FX today at my LCS.  They were supposed to be pulling it for me but they didn't.  I managed to grab one off the shelf.  They were well-stocked.  I told them again to make sure to pull the rest of the issues for me.

Wayne,

Did you consider having a "Hello, I'm Wayne Osborne" letter to the readers in the first issue?  I thought the story behind this comic would be interesting to anyone picking it up on a whim.  I chatted with the guy at the counter and told him the story behind the comic which he seemed to think was fascinating.

Picked up FX today, and read it with my 8-year old daughter. I currently get Teen Titans Go! for her, but she was *really* diggin' FX! She laughed quite a few times at Tom trying out his powers, and immediately told me that I had to "keep buying this comic" so she could see what happens!

I can think of no higher endorsement than that!
