I just got back from my LCS--they're not carrying it. But, I did pick up JLA Classified. So at least I'll have some Byrne. I'll have to look on-line for a copy of FX.

So far FX #1 has been sold out at 3 comic stores I have visited. None of them said "Byrne's stuff doesn't sell" tho -- on the contrary, all of them said that they weren't aware that the book featured art by that John Byrne until they were putting it on the stands.

Derek, you should insist that your LCS order you a copy. It is easy enough for them to place a backorder and get you a copy within a week or two.

Mr Byrne, What do you have of Lincolns that is signed?

We went to Washington DC last summer and our hotel was right around the corner from Fords Theater, and it was amazing to think I walked into the same building that Lincoln walked. Washington is an amazing place to go, everything is free and so inspiring.

My son picked up my copy of FX yesterday and he has yet to bring it to me, (we are nearing removal from the will. :0) ) I have been reading some of the comments on other forums and it sounds really good.  Great job guys on it being for young and old alike.

Congratulations on FX. It reads pretty well and looks sharp.

Two things:

I would have preferred a flatter paper--I don't think that the slick paper
works well with flat color. I do like the flat color though--it's much easier to
see Byrne's line work.

--And was there supposed to be a color effect of some sort in the first two
panels on page 3? Tom says, "What's that light?" but he's not colored as
though he's lit in any way.

Guys in general,

If your LCS doesn't have any, ask them to order one for you - there are
copies available for reorders.

Erik,

Thanks for the kind words. As to the two things, I think that's IDW's
paper of choice and I have no control over stuff like that. Although I
thought the book as a whole made a nice package and liked the paper
they used. And in that panel, Tom is just seeing the light as it comes
toward him - and Jack never sees it at all. It was only meant for Tom as
you will find out - but you have to keep reading them. :-)

Lincoln and Darwin... that's some impressive autographs, I dare say.
And I like your idea of tracking down stuff personalized to John. Now imagine if you were lucky to find one made out to a John Byrne from someone like Grant, now that'd really have some people raising their eyebrows I guess. :)

Well some copies have already made it over to the Emerald Isle. Picked my copies up (one is for a friend) and just this minute finished reading it. No offense Wayne but before reading it, you were an unknown quntity and it was JB's art that was selling it to me. Now that I'm finished, I have to say you tell a great story. You packed in loads of it too!

Bought it this morning. Read it this afternoon.

Nay, devoured it. FUN stuff!

Clear, clean, direct story and script. The soul of good economical writing.

And the art... well... va-va-va-VOOM...!!!!!

Fun book.  :)  I'm looking forward to rest of this series!

Here's hoping that there's another 6 issues after this series is done, too!

Count me as a very satisfied customer as well.  Really enjoyed the read, colors, art and story.  I am thrilled for you Wayne.
