After hundreds of issues as inker does anyone know why Sinnott never once
did even a issue of the Fantastic Four solo? He seemed like a natural go-to
guy for a fill-in.

F. Ron Miller -

Why don't you e-mail and ask him?  His son Mark replies to e-mails on his father's behalf !

Joe Sinnott illustrated the Dell Giant Comic "The Beatles" with had the "Complete Life Story" back in 1964.

I'm a major major fan of Sinnott, I probably have more of his work than anyone else, except for Kirby.. He's always been one of those rare inkers for me that just seems to work on almost any penciller without taking a lot away from their work but still having a definitive style.

Reading interviews of Joe's over the years in the likes of the Jack Kirby collecor &  Back issue, & as classy as he is, he's a very honest guy.. In "comic creators on the Fantastic Four" for instance, he gives props to Kirby, Buscema, Perez, JB etc, but he does state that during Keith Pollard's run, he was working from basic breakdowns , that there wasn't much there to work with & that it was a lot of work...

Joe is my all-time favorite Marvel inker, maybe my favorite all-time inker, and he simply owns the Thing.

Me: After hundreds of issues as inker does anyone know why Sinnott
never once did even a issue of the Fantastic Four solo? He seemed like a

------

Mark Sinnott: Hi Ron,
Thanks for your interest in my dad's artwork. My dad
never penciled a Ff story, although he did pencil and
ink a few FF covers and pin-up pages. The reason for
this is that while inking for Marvel all those years,
he was also penciling and inking for Treasure Chest,
dell, ACG, Quality Crossword, Sports Cartoons and
advertising, as well as penciling for Charlton and
inking Archie. He was offered the early Journey Into
Mystery Thor and did pencil and ink a few of those
however. So as you can see, although he was primarily
an inker for Marvel, he was penciling and inking a
great many stories elsewhere.

F. Ron Miller -

Thanks for sharing the e-mail from Mark Sinnott !  Hope you get to pick up Brushstrokes with Greatness if you haven't done so already !  When I think of the new book on Kirby (King of Comics), I think another book should be put out: Joe Sinnott: Prince of Comics !
