Cool, Stephen...and if I took your comments in a manner in which you didn't mean to infer, my apologies. Didn't mean to come across so defensively.
FWIW, I draw too...and I think the reverse-direction webs work when the planes shift...just one of those comic-book conventions that don't make sense in reality, but work visually.

This is really interesting, I try to draw rudimentary Spider-man for my 5-
year-old (he is a very receptive audience) and always struggled with the
pattern. Now I know. I'm going to go digging through my DVD-Rom of
AMAZING now, too! Thanks JB (et al)

S. Sadowski: I like to try new methods. But this just looks 'wrong' to me.
*** The way Romita, Gil Kane, Ross Andru, John Byrne, Lee Weeks and god knows who else draws Spider-Man's webbing looks "wrong" to you?

Not what I said.
Gil Kane and Ross Andru are my two favorite Spider-man Artists. Reversing the pattern mid costume and on seperate body parts does, though, yes. Dont agree...? Move along...nothing to see here..these aren't the droids youre looking for.

Stephen, have you ever drawn Spider-Man in a published comic book or elsewhere? I think you're a terrific artist and I'd like to see it.

Kane and Andru do the Romita rule-- reversing the pattern-- relentlessly. ...and they're your "favorites" ...and it looks "wrong" to you. Got it.

I'm glad, Mark.

Oh, I didn't even know there was going to be an Avengers/Invaders. With Ross, Krueger and yourself doing it, no less!! Sounds great!

Just because people do something one way, doesnt mean YOU have to do it that way. *** Naturally, but when the tip-top experts at something do it one way and try to explain it to me-- and if I am a fan of the work of said experts, if they are my favorites-- I don't say what they do looks wrong.
I've been looking at Spider-Man drawings ever since you put this particular bee in my bonnet and it seems to me that if you draw Spider-Man with any frequency, you're going to have to work very hard to avoid doing what you say looks wrong. Good luck, god's speed and all that, but good grief! I look forward to your Spider-Man with great curiosity.
