Never noticed the different web direction before...doesnt make any sense
to do it that way !
••
Well, of course I would expect you to have a better grasp of Spider-Man
than John Romita.
++
And what do you do if you have a shot were the forearm meets the
elbow? just switch mid arm?
••
Yes.

Jeez, John, did I say that??? You do have a way with words.. Well, we each have our own opinion of what looks 'right', then.
..resisting urge to find countless 'established' Spider-Man artists who also don't do it this way....<grumble>

I totally understand why the Romita method works, but I've always stuck to between the eyes being the end-all center of the web. If anything it keeps me from getting confused in my drawing induced stupor of rendering all the webs.

Neither am I. Hate the webshooters on the back of his hands and more so it never looked evocative of a spider to me. The original is a classic and for my money can't be improved upon.

I like the black costume. Not the symbiote one, but the cloth one he wore later on. It just looked slick on him and showed off his wire trimmed body, which caused many to underestimate how powerful he really is. But upon saying that I do agree the original is always the number #1 favorite.

WHo's the hardest character to draw in comics? My first instinct was to say The Thing but he might be one of the easiest!
(I can't draw anything but my name.)

John Romita's Spider-Man is my favorite. I don't care for the coffin lining look either.

I never have a problem with drawing Spider-Man's costume. The problem I
have is putting him into dynamic poses while still looking anatomically
correct. I'm going to start to look at gymnasts I think.
By the way nice drawing JT.
JB- that Spectacular Spider-Man 101 cover is one of the best Spider-Man
drawings I've ever seen, and the absolute best with the black costume.

One thing JB mentioned about this during his time under Jim Shooter in the man's "making rules" mode is that when Shooter found out about the "Romita method" he made a rule that artists couldn't use it. That was good use of his time!

This is an old Spider-Man of mine - note how I followed 'Romita's Rules' (not that I'd read them before today) even down to the 'scallop-shift' at the elbows. Also as Stephen points out, you can add a couple of new web-lines at the neck. I got the palm-lines wrong though.
