I read somewhere that metalic villan was used again in a later Alpha Flight story, only instead of the artist drawing him, he simply swiped JB's art. Does anyone know if this is true?

"Hey--I felt that!"

This--and AF #12 were the kind of issues that made you think ANYTHING could happen in the series! Very exciting stuff.

As my favorite Alphan falls, this was a devastating issue. It was a great
story, however.

As for difference in the Great Beast and Sasquatch appearance, note the
grin and the eyebrows which curl up like horns. Too many later artists
ignored the subtle difference and gave Sasquatch horns.

You know what.  As a kid I had problems with Snowbird killing Walter so quickly and so unfeelingly -- but now I realize that at least she didn't punch 10 year old kids in the face with closed fists, so I'm okay with Snowbird now.

(LOL -- yeah, I had to sneak it back on to the board...)

My "first" ever JB issue, and my first AF issue!  I was totally blown away by the art and story.  I had never seen any of these characters before, but became a big fan.  A big "plus" in my book was that at only issue #23, I could be there from the start.  All my favorite comics until then were in issue hundreds of something.

Of course, I had read many JB comics before - a few tattered Marvel Teams of my extreme childhood from the 70s, and even a few early FF issues my parents had bought me (that I had given away when I was "too big" for comics).  But all that was before I started buying comics myself with GI Joe, and a chance purchase of Secret Wars issue #2 had prodded me into buying superhero comics.  I was still in the "buy it and see if I liked it" phase.  And well, I liked it!

It's hard for me to evaluate this period of JB's AF run objectively, because nostalgia covers everything.  Needless to say, I loved this series as a kid.

After Guardian was killed, I finally settled on Sasquatch as my next favorite AFer...  Er, thanks for that one JB!  Seriously, loved this issue, and things just picked up steam for the last few that we have left.  By this point, AF was my favorite series to read every month (and is still one of my all time favorite series ever!).

I swear that if JB stayed on Alpha Flight any longer,
he would've ended up killin' the whole lot of them!
( but he would've continued in a way that would shock AND satisfy!)

Ha ha, I wonder who would've been next.
