I miss the Wolverine that wasn't in every freakin' Marvel comic every month.

I liked the beer-swilling lunkhead Wolverine, who made mistakes because of his hotheadedness (cf Iron Fist #15).

This was informed by a woeful misreading of X-MEN Annual 11.

I don't know if I can agree with that. It certainly didn't have to be that way. Anyway, I prefer the bone-lacing idea. I think one of the ideas that made Wolverine a farce were the bone claws. Quite possibly, one of the worst ideas ever.

I'll never understand why that character is such a huge cashcow. But I liked it better when they whored him less.

... or when his skeleton was LACED with adamantium, not entirely made of (or perhaps just coated) with the stuff? •• Well, I certainly remember when that was retconned in, after Shooter decided a fully adamantium skeleton was "unrealistic".

I prefer the bone-lacing idea.
••
Having his bones "laced" with adamantium means one solid hit and you
have broken bones held together by adamantium "lacing".*
Lucky he heals instantly, huh?
*This is a close cousin to the "great debate" over whether Colossus turns
to steel "all the way thru". As I pointed out first time this question was
raised, if he doesn't, then jumping out of airplanes at altitude, as he was
wont to do, would give you a very nice Colossus suit, once you drained
out all that goop in the feet.

Recent issues of Wolverine have now reset his healing factor back to how it was years ago. A lot of this sort of thing going on over at Marvel at the moment. Cannot think why.

One of the Seagle/Bachalo issues of UNCANNY X-MEN depicted Wolverine wearing utterly goofy-looking red-and-white striped shorts during free time. That, to me, shows a profound misunderstanding of who and what Wolverine is.

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding what lacing means, but I've always understood it to be that the adamantium takes up every available nook and cranny of the bone making it so inundated with the metal as to be near-impossible to break. The metal could fill up the lattice of the inner bone and be interwoven with the compact outer area of the bone. The whole process could even be done on a microscopic level (surely that's no less plausible idea than fitting him with a shiny new skeleton). Any slight fractures that might occur would be held in place because of the adamantium and would heal quickly. Just my overall impression.
