Well, if the nega-bands were specifically mentioned in the description of what the commissioner wanted, and they were omitted, then that gives some justification for refusing the commission. Moreso if it's true that the customer subsequently requested a fix of the bands, and JB declined.
Furthermore my understanding (quite possibly incorrect) is that JB doesn't require any reason for declining a commission - he's said in the past that if they don't like the end result, they don't have to pay for it. He can generally sell the product on eBay later, and apparently rejections are very rare. If rejections were common enough to cause problems for JB, he'd presumably change that policy. As it is though, it sounds like it's perfectly within the customer's rights to refuse the commission if they choose to do so.
Of course, that in no way gives the customer the right to make a copy of the unpaid-for image, have someone alter it slightly, and then present it as part of his own gallery. That is a whole 'nother issue, and I don't condone that at all.

Seems like a dirty, underhanded move on the commissioner's part.

In my opinion, that's a total disrespect over someone's work...
But how the re-work was presented to Anthony? a re-inking? Was he aware that the original was not accepted and bought before finishing the work? It is hard to believe someone would accept something like that, a clear swipe...
Anyway, whoever you are to have refused the commision and asked for someone else to do the inking job... you are an a**hole in this case!

I am simply flabbergasted.
I find it amazing that JB's positive attitude, optimism, faith in human
nature shows in each and every figure he draws and, yet, he is such a
lighting rod for negativity bullshit.
Envy is a sad, sad thing.

I think it proves that if you are doing work for Pat, make sure you get paid up front.

If Anthony is still a member here, I hope he sees this and responds, because I'd like to know what he has to say about this.
Pat, however, is a dick.
*edit* A-men, Trevor.

It seems like if the nega-band thing was going to be a deal-breaker, the commissioner would've been very specific about what he wanted.
I can understand why JB may have chosen to not "fix" the piece (if that is indeed what happened). That's just a can of worms waiting to be opened--commissioners wanting to endlessly tweak various details until they get it just right.
Seems kind of weird that he'd pay someone else to essentially trace the original with the correction. It's not even a swipe--it's a flat-out copy. In the end, what he's getting really isn't JB at all. This is like one of those cheap Chinese knock-off products.

Yep.
I can't wait to read Pat's side when he signs up here for a third time with the
name, "P. Ditton"!

If Pat is stupid enough to sign up, Eric, it should be as "D. Pitty". The D standing for Douche or Dick, obviously.
