Wait until Byrne-bashing mythology takes over this incident and adds a new twist to the story.

I really hope that this isn't the work of Anthony Castrillo; if only because a stunt like this is way beneath a man of his talents. Castrillo is more than capable of creating a good quality original drawing.

If the wrist bans were so important for the costumer, why he didn't say it. (no wrist bans = no money), surely there is another reason, maybe he doesn't get the money.
If someone ask you a XXXXX commission and he doesn't specific a version ...you can do anything you want. can't you?

Anyway, pretty good commission.

" I remember that pic.
And I remember the guy who had it re drawn.
He said he liked the pic, but that he'd specifically asked for the Negabands when he commissioned it. He didn't want the wrist laser which was from a couple of panels in an old Avenger's comic.
He asked that it be fixed, and when you was refused, he hired someone else to do what he asked for.
He also said he'd been banned around the time you posted the drawing, so he really didn't see the point in lining your pockets."

Where is it you remember all this from, Greg?  It sounds as though it couldn't have been this forum.  Did you read this "guy"s story on some other forum?  Which one could it be?

Just curious!

Greg says he remembers the story, not that he just read about it in the gallery.  I'm curious as to where Greg gained such detailed knowledge about this gentleman's dissatisfaction and post-banning decision not to "line JB's pockets".  Where does he remember all this from?

I don't know about Gerry, but I just read it in the guy's own words on Imwan.

Here's an interesting wrinkle: Anyone can take a commission JB posts on the forum and "swipe" it.

The cost of publicly posting the art, I guess.

Still it seems bad form to refuse a commission and then display a nearly identical copy on a website.

Not illegal, just distasteful.

I agree with Matthew's post above: this is theft of intellectual property. Even if the buyer had paid for the commission, tracing JB's linework and passing it off as his own is dishonest, even criminal.

Any of the lawyers on the board know if this is civil suit actionable? JB ought to recoup the cost of the commission and damages.
