So, just about every artist in the industry traces over other people's art that
wasn't paid for by commissioners that are to cheap to pay for them?

Give me an example of an artist who has done that.

Somebody actually made such an asinine argument?!?!? So I guess lottery patricipants should all get to win as well? And really, were there going to be people placing a commission request, just because they might get it for free rather than for getting the art.  *sigh*

That was the She-Hulk commission that was rejected?!?!?
When I saw that She-Hulk was mentioned as a second refusal, I had a vague memory of it being that recreation / re-imagining of the original She-Hulk # 1 cover. Not that that refusal would necessarily make much more sense in any way, but to refuse this montage piece seems... weird.

May I ask why you feel the need to engage in personal attacks? Do I know you?"

And may I in turn ask you why you feel the need to interpret it as a personal attack?

I provided an argument which you dismissed with a pointless condescending witticism. I responded to your condescing witticism with a condescending witticism of my own.

Just following your lead here, Scott.

>>>May I ask...why the hostility?

>>In my initial response I was trying to be lighthearted, not condescending. My apologies if you took offense. But to paraphrase The Matrix, "there is no house."

The only exit I think you have, MAC, is if you didn't know Ditton had not paid for the original.  To me, that is the point that either makes you look bad, or makes you look foolish because of what Ditton did.  If its the later situation, then I retract my harsh statements toward you earlier.  I don't like being that vocal about anything important, but this was pretty bad.

So you agree then Michael that it's Pat Ditton who owes JB for the
design/layout/for-all-intents-and-purposes-"pencils" that were traced
from, and not MAC?

Yes.

Mea Culpa.

No, thats not the point im trying to make, im talking about panels.
Artists swiping printed and paid for art, i dont want name names
cause thats what they have live with and this thread is about one particular
piece.
Check out the issue of WHAT IF? that i drew, that was a total swipe of Johns
FF#236. Now i had the blessing of the editor to go in and "homage" the
book.
I was blissfully unaware then as well.
And ive been working as a professional artist for 20+years, 6-7 in comics.
In all those years my judgement had never been questioned when i delivered
a piece of art. So for my ignorance I apologize to YOU.
