Y'know, under the circumstances, the more honorable thing to do would have been for Ditton to pay for the commission, then have MAC do his swipe if he so chose, and then sell the original on e-bay if he so wished. Hell, he likely would have made a profit in that juncture. (JB's commission prices are very reasonable, when you consider what they often sell for on e-bay).
I can't believe he's upset about JB's slight adjustment in policy in doing another commission for him after the first refusal. Does he think JB would just keep making commissions for the same guy, and risk having him refuse them over and over again? Fool me twice....

Perhaps it's the "fan" in me, but this guy deserves a "second chance" as much as JB deserved what this guy did to him.
All this guy talks about is getting a JB commission? Hello, you had one and you took a piss on it in public. Good luck getting a second chance to do that.

Michael, I just gotta know:
Was it Bavarian style (which has caraway seeds) or regular kraut? I'm a big fan of the Bavarian style (unless its on a Rueben), myself.
I had a hot dog with chili and mustard (wasn't in the mood for onions) and a potato cake (ie, hash browns style, not fried mashed potatoes). Would have had my usual two dogs, but I ate lunch late.

Hmm, well, I didn't see any seeds, yet to call it "regular" is to risk death here in the Huber household.

As for my opinion on the whole thing? I have no axe to grind with anyone and I think what happened with the refused commission and the follow up recreation has been given a fair shake on both sides of the story. Form whatever opinion of the situation you desire.

Of course, that in no way gives the customer the right to make a copy of the unpaid-for image, have someone alter it slightly, and then present it as part of his own gallery. That is a whole 'nother issue, and I don't condone that at all. |

Yes, I think that is what all of us (or most) are protesting (not the fact that the commission was refused), the fact that he had another artist swipe the work instead of drawing an original image. That seems to consistute some sort of theft, even if it's not illegal.
BTW, here's the thread on the piece (from the Commissions Board).

Wow. I'm just amazed at this. Pissed off or not, there should have been some inherent moral code that would have kept EITHER Pat or Anthony from doing this.
