By the time I started buying Alpha Flight, Talisman was already a regular member, and therefore I had no opinions about her introduction when I finally picked this up as a back issue. I wonder if my reactions would have been similar to Brad's. I did like her when I first read AF, and thought she was mishandled badly afterwards. I wonder what JB really mean to do with her and her issues with her father.
I would rank this as one of the lesser issues of JB's AF. Entertaining, but nothing special, but I hold that opinom in general of the 15-22 run.

Funny. I never got used to her. In fact, I had a very weird attitude towards
AF: whenever something "changed", I was peeved! I disliked Aurora's new
uniform, Guardian's death, Walter's "death", Talisman, everything. I wished
Byrne would just leave these characters I loved BE.

Another baffling issue...
I didn't care who was inking. I was just interested in the story ( Time travel ... Yeah ! ) and the amazing art!
And I also have to thank you for starting the AF reading club with some pics of the comics, especially the covers.
For us in France, it was part of a monthly magazine with 4 different comics inside ( if I recall, it would be AF, then 2 Spider-Man and then Dardevil or iron-man ). So the covers of that monthly were rotating between the series, and sometimes it was even redraw or color painted " à la Gary Cody on Danger Unlimited ". So, yeah, first time I see most of them.
And for that, thank you!

I like Talisman's look, but she didn't totally click with me as a member.

Talisman clicked for me, but I was always waiting for something "more" from the character. The fact that Snowbird bowed to her and was willing to accept her orders meant to me that she should have had a steady progression in importance as a character after she learned the ropes. In my mind, JB's departure from the book killed that progression because no other writer ever picked up on it and developed it further. There's a lot that we never got to read!

Not a lot of Talisman love here. None from me either. I think I didn't like her because she didn't want to be Talisman, which when I look back at it makes a lot more sense. You don't have to be covered in orange rocks to want to be a normal person.

And of course, you had to pay for the 3 others series even if you only wanted to read Alpha Flight !
At this time, I started to look forward to reading "true" american comics, with no censure, no cut panels, no crappy translations and redrawn covers !
I like this one, I like time travel too but for me, the best time travel story written by JB is the Next Men. Now, I shut up, I know some people here don't know the JBNM and I don't want to spoil all the fun...

I liked Talisman. I loved her costume and was very intrigued by her powers.
This issue has amazing art (although I don't get any Golden feel) and at the top of my head I would also think it was inked by Wiacek. Great inks, in any case.

I remember this issue! Scared the hell out of me! The scariest part was when the woman turned and she had the sharp teeth!
