The first comic I can remember picking off the spinner rack at the Shopper's City department store for my mom to buy for me is this one:
I was three years old. I know it's not the very first comic I'd been exposed to, because I remember that I already knew who Superman and Batman were, and I remember thinking how different Spider-Man was from them. But whatever comics I'd seen before this I must have thrown away. This was the first one I kept, and hence the beginning of my collection. I still have that old copy, now coverless and ratty.

Gordon Summers, I had the same "POW" annual. It had a Ditko Spider-Man story and a Fantastic Four story in the back. The FF fought the Super Skrull disguised as Sue and Johnny's father. Great stuff. Wasn't this a British release?

The first one I recall was a Batman Aparo issue, Bats vs. Joker, where Batman is trapped in an empty dam of some sort, and Joker releases doors and fills the dam with water, nearly drowning Batman.
The other one is the Superman vs. Captain Thunder Swan issue.

I actually have NO IDEA what issue of ASM it actually was! I know it had a
clone of Gwen and the Jackal in it. The opening page showed the jackal
leaning over the cloning pods, if my memory serves. If anyone can help me
figure out what it was, that would be great (should have been around 1976
or 1977, maybe?).
Not sure why I never looked for it......

It was a Richie Rich and Casper comic. I had quite a few and bought them out of order, so I'm not for certain which one was purchased first.

It was some faceless Casper the Friendly Ghost or Richie Rich or Wendy the Good Witch book when I was about 3 or 4 in the early 70's.
The first one I specifically remember buying myself was Star Wars #1 in 1977.

The first comic that I can recall, my late mother got for me when I was a wee lad (maybe 5 or 6 years old at the time). It was a stand-alone Superman comic included with a couple of Looney Toons titles in which he fought the Parasite. Nothing really memorable about it now, except that the villain was beaten by flying into some power cables using the powers he had just siphoned off from Supes.

I think this may have been the first comic I read.

At the grand old age of four years old, mine was either this:
or this:
. . . as far as superhero comics go, that is. Before that, I'm sure I had a few Mickey Mouse, Harvey, or similar Whitman/Gold Key comics lying about the house, despite the fact that I was too young to read them.

Cool answers everyone. Some Gems in there and some and a few from the 90's as well. Thanks for the feed back.
Funny thing about my early comics is that I still own most of the US news stand editions I was bought but the more hardy hardbacked UK annual reprints have all bitten the dust. They are not pretty or in any state to sell on but they have obviously been read and cherrished.
