Wow....that's two people whose first comic was from the 90s. I've never heard someone say their first comic was purchased in the 90s because I thought everyone whose first comic was from the 90s was no longer reading comics! Interesting!

Pff...that Psylocke cover...can it get any more porn-o ?
To answer the question, that would be very hard...Early 80's French translation of late 70's Spiderman/X-Men. I wish I could remember !

Looks to me like shes bounding in a fight. This isn't anywhere near as bad as that Heroes For Hire thing from a few months back.
Side Note: Psylocke is one of my favorite characters, but that girl is in dyer need of some friggin' consistency. If I was to write out her history, various powers and incarnations to date, I'd end up with a novel. Same goes for Cable.

I can't be 100% positive, but I have very good reason to believe my first comic book was this:

i don't know if this will fit into the question you ask, but the first comic i remember is Fantastic 4 #3 - i was too young to buy, or even read, comics back then, but i vividly remember my brother trading that issue to his friend Randy Long for some DC war/western comics and i tried to talk him out of it and even resorted to crying (in my dad's garage, where all comics were traded back then). i'm sure there were other comics i paged through, but none have remained etched into my mind like that one.
as to the first comic i actually bought myself with my first allowance: Spider-Man #20 (the Scorpion)

My first US sized comics came in a 99p mixed bag. In there were: Kamui - issue 17 (I think) - a japanese comic about a ninja. Luger - issue 1 - published by Eclipse Detective Inc - Issue 3 - another Eclipse, but I never read it for some reason. Marvel Tales - issue 202 - Murder World, illustrated by our host.![](uploads/RobSpalding/2008-02-05_173943_1747_2_0202.jpg)
And the first British Comic I remember buying was 2000ad issue 693. Which had the end of Slaine The Horned God Book 2 - I must have read that one issue about thirty times. It would be nearly about 7 years before I bought another 2000ad.

But as a kid, I was a Beano kid. No idea what issue I fisrt read. But I would have no truck with the Dandy or Whizzer and Chips. You Americans may have split Marvel/DC - but in my playground it was Dennis Vs Dan Vs Whoever-was-in Whizzer and Chips.

Here's the first comic I ever owned and at the time wasn't able to read the whole thing and needed help from family members.

SUPERMAN 305 by Marty Pasko, Curt Swan, and Bob Oksner.
And....since there's so much discussion these days about how we don't attract new readers to the hobby, partly by "only" having comics sold in comics specialty shops....I should point out that I bought it in a 7-11 convenience store. My friend Henry Lewis and I rode "Big Wheels" down there to buy Slurpees. He picked up a SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN comic book, and I picked up this one. Soon after it became a weekly habit/fascination/love

This was the first comic bought for me by my parents at the local 7-11.

The first comic I bought for myself with earned money was FF Annual 19. From there I was all about JB's FF and Stern/Buscema Avengers.

My first comic would have been a Spider-Man, most likely from Marvel Tales as it was an issue from before I was born in 1967.
The first comic that washed the scales from my eyes and turned my brain inside-out was UXM 98.
