And to stay on-topic, Hercules was introduced in one of my favorite annuals from the old days:

I loved annuals. What If, being double-sized, was like an annual every month! Three favorite annuals of mine are:

I liked the H-bra. +++ JB designed it, IIRC. Best Herc look.

The "H-Bra" is the costume Hercules was wearing when I first start reading comics regularly, so I'll always have a soft spot for it.
When I was old enough to be into comics enough to realize what annuals were Marvel and DC started using them as their summer crossovers. I remember being sucked right into the Eclipso "Darkness Within" story. I would get any part of it I could find on the spinner rack at the used bookstore that sold comics in my town. On the Marvel side I remember enjoying the "Korvac Quest" but I'm not sure how it would hold up.

Brian,
Wasn't that Superman annual the one where Curt Swan meets Superman in the back-up? I loved that story.

That's JB's design for Hercules? Really?
I was sure it was Buscema's, as it seemed consistent with his reported dislike of drawing superheroes. Seemed like an attempt to give him a more Conan-like character to draw.
Obviously, a bunch of people liked the design, and it stuck around for awhile, so there's a reason I'm not the head of a fashion empire.
