Maybe Nowlan inked only that leg/figure and Jim did the rest?

Cool issue. Byrne, Leonardi, Silvestri, Janson, Golden, Stromman, Portaccio, Lee... Like a who's who issue. I especially enjoyed the Byrne and Golden parts and I remember wishing John had done the Phoenix scenes towards the end. But, since this was Jim Lee's stint on the book...

I barely remember this issue. It was at the time I was really not liking Marvel Comics and would quit almost all the titles.

I somehow remember those few Byrne pages... but it is strange because was not interested in X-Men that much ( still not ! )

I don't think so. That Jean Grey face was definitely inked by Nowlan.
