Wow, those are pretty clean lines for 'breakdowns' <g>.

My roughs tend to be pretty sloppy, but usually have more energy and life than my tight pencils.

Thanks for the inside peek at your work!

Publishers prefer to have the lettering done on computer, as a separate layer, to make it easier to do foreign editions.

Ah, that makes sense. Thanks for the answer.

If you look closely, you can still see traces of the sloppier roughs lurking
under the breakdowns. Here's the image darkened down a notch or two, to
make this more apparent:

Sometimes when just looking a pencils like these, I can feel an urgent to read comics that haven't been inked. Some artists (JB included) can make such drop dead gorgeous stuff in pencils that inks almost seem a sin (I seem to recall for instance someone posting a Gene colan pencil piece in the previous New Art thread that was to die for).

And nothing that's ever come out the combination of my hands, a pencil and a paper has even remotely looked anything close to that...

Wow! Nice!

CZ looks awesome!
I can't wait to know why that guy needs a haircut, I can't imagine it either.

Thank you for sharing, JB!

Oh, I saw a type of Terminator vibe there, like he's getting an implant in his skull or something.  Interesting...

By the way, JB, I really like your supporting cast members in your books.  It could have been dull with just one extra person in the room, but it looks more like a clandestine meeting going on.
