Wayne, This must be getting very exciting for you. I know after reading the first issue, I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.

For any of you that don't have a LCS and want to buy FX, www.dcbservice.com is now offering FX # 1 for presale at 60% off cover. That's only $1.59! Type FX in their search feature and it will pop up.

I don't know. I think JB's new stuff is better.
JB, is the layout of a two-page spread a different consideration than it used to be? With full bleeds and everything else, it's different, right? In the old days the 2 pagers like this didn't seem to line up a lot of the time.

Not sure what you mean by "different". The object is always to make the
best use of the available space.

I thought in the old days that pages were restricted to the 10 x 15 area of the page and that lining up the two artistically and in the printing process often made the pages misaligned.
The reason I thought this is that my initial thoughts were that doing it the way that you have, on one page was the obvious solution but someone, somewhere explained to me that that wasn't practical in regards to the printing side of things.

O, here's hoping there'll be enough minis to come for Wayne to actually wallpaper his entire house if he so wishes. This looks like so much fun that I'm actually starting to contemplate asking my girlfriend to stop by the LCS to set up a subscription for me (as I'm currently unable to go myself). I just don't want to miss this.
Oh, and the image... Just seemed nigh silly commenting on how great it is. As has been said, every FX piece we see looks better than the last one (old stuff better, my rase, I say!). And, JB, if you want every issue and every mini to get better, that's entirely fine with me. No shame there. :)

It's gonna be tough to wallpaper the library with pages. Most of the walls
are holding up shelves. I certainly plan on framing some FX pieces. I'm just
not sure which ones - and as we go along it's getting harder and harder to
choose. The rest will live in some nice portfolios.

WOW...! This is what double-page spreads are supposed to do...progress events in a monumental way! Too many times I've seen a DPS with Spidey just swinging on his web or Daredevil brooding over a cityscape.
Thanks Wayne & JB!

JB: Epic !
Is it too early to know the significance of the building at the upper left? Is that a logo? Enjoying the detail in the robot and the city scape !
Wayne: I noted when FX will be in Previews. When does it reach the shelves at my lcbs?

The first issue is in Previews now to be on shelves in March - and monthly
after that.
Thanks,

Too many times I've seen a DPS with Spidey just swinging on his web or Daredevil brooding over a cityscape. One of the smaller pearls of wisdom handed down to me over the years, but one that has stuck, is that a double-page spread, no matter how spectacular, only advances the story one panel. So if it's, say, pages 2 & 3, with a full page splash for 1, that puts you three pages into the story with only two panels drawn! Many times, artists forget this, and the double-page spread becomes something said artist thinks will be "cool", but which does not, overall, server the story much. This spread serves double duty -- being, hopefully, "cool", and serving as catch-up/set-up for what follows.
